Thanks man, interesting. Watching with the sound off, the film looks like Animal House with any hint of humour removed!
Aah,'Been Down So Long…..'. Read this in the late 70s and spent most of the 80s is search of the famed 'paregoric' that Farina so persuasively promotes. Check out his two Vanguard LPs, dulcimer-tastic folk delights adorned with smashing pics of Joan Baez's toothsome sister Mimi (Richard's missus). Crashed his motorsickle on the night of the book launch didn't he?

Ha!
Used to proselytise for that book a lot in my 20s- until I re-read with slightly more mature eyes and grasped the self- regard, the misogyny and the general 'I, the author' preciousness. Dated indeed. He wrote 'Reno, Neveda' though.
/\ always liked the parts about (1) the groovy hiking boots; and (2) his shopping for exotic ingredients with which to prepare that special dinner for his girlfriend
