I should add that I expect this to be a one-off run rather than a new venture, but I have no clue where this is going. It's really just something that I, along with a friend, have been considering for ourselves (since acquiring this article that we've long sought and revered) and I expect that it could benefit us, as well as anyone else who expresses interest, if we were to fill a few additional orders; assuming I can find a cheap but able factory in the downtown LA garment district.
I'd be interested in the club collar at around $200.
Maybe interested in a tab collar but probably limited to no more than $150.
Can you give us the collar point length on the Tab Oliver? If its not too short I'm in for one. Cost wise I'd like a really good cloth and construction (Fitzgerald standard) for $10, or as close as you can get...
Haha, I'll put my wife to work Sogs!
Collar point length is 2 1/8" and boxier than most of the cheaper and generic vintage tab collars that I've come across. It feels more substantial and its got a really nice shape. As of now, the club collar is a higher priority as they're essentially non-existent except at the budget end (J.Crew and contempo Brooks) which doesn't rate with me. The club collar length is significantly shorter than Claudio's shirts, which measure approx 3.5" (his design), and imo, is a more desirable look for period accuracy; ie. Jack, Dexter Gordon, etc. Of course, Claudio's shirts are entirely different, with an extremely tapered fit and French cuffs. I'm personally not a fan of the longer club collars as they invoke images of Felix Cavaliere dressed as an English schoolboy. These are very much mid century Madison Ave. In all my years of probing obsessively through every corner of eBay, vintage shops, etc. this is the one and only example of a proper 1960's ivy league styled club collar that I've come across, from J.Press or any of the other estimable East Coast menswear institutions. As I'm primarily doing this for myself, quality will not be sacrificed at any expense: if it gets done, it will be done right.

Is that a vote from Yuca?

Cool, it sounds like there's some interest in both. The club collars are definitely happening on some scale (whether or not they get distro'd to the forum) and I'm pretty sure my friend is set on having a copy of the tab collar made as well. I wouldn't mind an extra backup for myself, once we're doing this, so I'd be glad to cover you too Sogs. I'm gonna start to dig around and try to find a factory to handle the job or at least price it out with some local tailors if we're going to limit this to a small handful of shirts for a couple of people. I'll update everyone in a couple of months once I sort out production and costs! I'm hoping to get this knocked out for Xmas.
Damn that looks good, but I'd want a tab.
No pin has yet passed through these hallowed weaves.
That looks really well made.
It's the model stalwart archetype of mid century ivy league shirting: well-made, durable and resilient, yet soft and conforming just the same.
I keep a looking, but I never seem to find them - guess it's you and sancho getting them all! Feckers.
I got you. I'm keeping the clubs and tabs separate though, the former to be worn with a pin.
Sign me up.
Looks good.
I'm in for a club collar - depending a little on time-scale. Great project, Oliver!
