Why I've finally given up on the left

>>In 2007 I tried to make amends, and published What’s Left. If they were true to their professed principles, my book argued, modern leftists would search out secular forces in the Muslim world — Iranian and Arab feminists, say, Kurdish socialists or Muslim liberals struggling against reactionary clerics here in Britain — and embrace them as comrades. Instead, they preferred to excuse half the anti-western theocrats and dictators on the planet. As, in their quiet way, did many in the liberal mainstream. Throughout that period, I never heard the BBC demanding of ‘progressives’ how they could call themselves left-wing when they had not a word of comfort for the Iraqi and Afghan liberals al-Qaeda was slaughtering. (...)
And yes, thank you again, I know at this point I am meant to say that Corbyn isn’t an anti-Semite. Maybe he isn’t, but some of his best friends are, and the record shows that out of cynicism or conviction he will engage in the left’s version of ‘dog-whistle’ race politics.<<

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

Well when you're trying to bring together two sides you're going to have to engage with both sides...it's the people that resist resolution that are the problem... when both sides have acted awfully what can you do..keep highlighting the damage theyve done to each other or try and create some respect between the groups so they can move forward?

All your principles justify is further suffering, you're the most dangerous type of person I can think of Hank.

You don't know jack shit of me as a person, as I don't know jack shit about you and I couldn't care less.

BTW, if you read the article, you'll find out it's not about me, it's an article by Nick Cohen for Spectacor, my person is not the issue here. It would be sweet if you could stick to the article and keep your ad hominem attacks to yourselves. Will you do me that favor, sweetheart?

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

I think of Corbyn as a pinko pseud who has more in common with a fascist (as does a big part of the so-called left these days, Karl and Rosa would have turned in their graves if they saw what the SPD has become, and Labour is similar).

A friend of mine recently posted this about Corbyn:

>>We have a Labour leader who:
1. Said that the 7/7 attacks were the result of UK creating insecurity around the world
2. Presented a show on Press TV, Iran’s propaganda channel
3. Praised and appeared on Russia Today, Putin’s propaganda channel
4. Is National Chair of “Stop the War”
5. Is a Patron of the “Palestine Solidarity Campaign” which fights for a boycott of Israel.
6. Says that Hamas and Hezbollah are dedicated to the good of the Palestinian people and to social and political justice.
7. Says that NATO is the aggressor in Eastern Europe and that Russia has a legitimate claim over Ukraine
8. Jumped to the defence of antisemites, Raed Salah who indulged in medieval blood libel and Steven Sizer who said that Israel was behind 9/11
9. Is not offended by the suggestion that the execution of Bin Laden and the sentencing of Eichmann are both illegitimate and illegal
10. Does not argue with somebody who suggests that Bin Laden is not dead
11. Does not say anything when a 911 truther who he’s sharing a platform with, defends Palestinian suicide bombing
12. Is pictured, all smiles, with Hugo Chavez
13. Campaigned against Britain taking military action against Assad
14. Campaigned against the RAF giving air support to those defending Kobane
15. Thinks that ISIS is bad in Syria in the same way as the US is bad in Iraq
16. Continued to support “Deir Yassin Remembered” even when it was well known that it was run by a Holocaust Denier
17. Hosted and sat next to on a platform Dyab Abou Jahjan, who believes that the killing of each British soldier is a victory
18. Agreed to speak alongside Carlos Latuff, 2nd prize winner in Ahmadinejad’s Holocaust denial cartoon competition
19. Agreed to speak alongside Azzam Tamimi, who said that he’d like to have been a suicide bomber against Israel
20. Replies to all these points by saying that they are Tory smears

late addition (any other I forgot?) :

21. Hosted Gerry Adams at Westminster shortly after the IRA tried to wipe out the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.

three more:

22. Addressed a LaRouche front organisation in the US.
23 Called for an official inquiry into "pro-Israel" influence in the Foreign Office
24 Spoke at the Cairo Conference which resolved to encourage Iraqis to engage in military struggle against coalition forces

Maybe he is in linguistics.

"Manufacturing Consent" and, as far as I can see, most of his political writings are best understood in terms of the politics of paranoia.

Watch him here:

"Oppressed immigrants"? Chomsky comes across as a parody of a pinko sociologist, you know, the kinda guy Monty Python would joke about.

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

Jews lying to cover for other Jews might be a larger cause for anti-Jewish sentiment than this fakakta fantasy that Jews are hated for their Judaism.  This Rubin fellow conveniently acts as though Richard Perle, Elliot Abrams. or Douglas Feith were irrelevant by this crafty framing of "the top dozen or so" and I guess he'd claim that the Jewish murderers of the Romanov family and Lenin himself were non-religious?

Hitler and the Reich were Zionists.  They wanted the Jews to have their own country.  I really must wonder if any recognized that once the chosen ones had gotten a nation, they would just continue to leverage it for more power ad infinitum.

Oh damn, I have linked to a revisionist page there!

Carolyn Yeager is some sort of neo Nazi, I guess.

Nevertheless, I think the Hitler quote there is correct.

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

Indeed the Left makes curious bed fellows e.g. Corbyn's Left in the Stop The War coalition have put statements out that we shouldn't take on ISIS as it is a revolutionary movement that they share a lot of ideology with and historically with the Red Brigades from the Spanish civil war. But we should not focus just on the failure of the Left and our seats of higher education: the whole edifice of the European Liberal democracies too are moribund and have broken the contract with the people as events in Cologne on New Year's eve are a recent symptom of. The same lying timid morality is in play, the same one that sentenced those girls in the UK to be groomed, pimped and whored out as a price worth paying in the long term project and process to merge us with a backward culture.

The evidence is clear, but what can we do to replace that which fails to protect, maintain our security and prosperity? The EU in its current form, must be the first to be dismantled and replaced.

HBH: What's your take on Merkel importing a new wave of anti-semitism? Is it pathological, or hopeless humanitarian naivity.

The situation here too is deteriorating a jewish family on holiday in the Hague were attacked by a mob of the usual suspects over Christmas and a jewish family in Amsterdam had their house attacked with fireworks while the mob shouted anti-semitic chants. Meanwhile, the mayor of the Hague has come out vehemently against banning salafist movements in the Netherlands because of their rich contribution to the diversity of Holland.

An acquaintance of mine has been here in the Netherlands since he was 9 year old, he retains a UK passport and believes that chaos and disorder is returning to Europe and he maintains that the UK will once again be a beacon in the darkness. We shall see, but much of the malaise seems evident in the UK also, perhaps he looks on with rose tinted spectacles at the emerald isle.

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

Interestingly, I was at an emerging market and security conference this week and one of the analysts mentioned that there had been a failure of the center left in Europe (with the notable exception of Italy) and that they had lost their voters to the more central ground and right. The outcome is that the Left is going to the hard and extremes i.e. Corbyn.

I guess we are where we are now, and rather than giving up on the Left, I think we all feel the betrayal of the cultural Marxism that plans to lay waste to Europe. It is the betrayal of the Left that we will never forgive them for as we now lock ourselves into survival mode.

A house divided cannot stand:

That about sums up the failure and how the Left was lost to lunacy, crackpots, the champagne socialists of Islington and a twisted love affair with the Islamist cause.

Re: Why I've finally given up on the left

Poor old Ken got himself in a right pickle yesterday by referring to this on a radio show:

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/judaica/ejud_0002_0008_0_08075.html

He forgot the mindset that currently prevails whereby objective comment on certain issues is very dangerous if it appears to be at odds with the prevailing public hysteria. Therefore anyone who dares suggest that Liverpool fans are anything but paragons of model behaviour is currently onto a hiding to nothing, despite the fact that some caused the Heysel stadium disaster four years before Hillsborough. Anyone who questions the behaviour of Israel in relation to Palestine is labelled anti semitic and probably a nazi to boot. People bang on about shariah law supplanting the law of the land, meanwhile the uniformed jewish vigilante patrols quietly go on in North London with the full backing of the police:

What a plonker Ken Livingstone is... even if you're not antisemitic and want to argue a case for anti-zionism I suggest you dont let Mr. Livingstone anyway near a microphone. Take a note from Bernie S... the move to a proper debate can only come from the Jewish...not some inept MPs
