Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

These ones, with brown cords, burgundy wool sweater, cream/wine check flanell, a simple shooting jacket ( http://www.cordings.co.uk/firley-herringbone-tweed-field-coat.html )....

...and then a very long walk through a grey and silent empty London, on an ice-cold December 25, through Marylebone, Porchester Place and Pimlico, returning to SW1 at dawn. Game pie and real ale, or some burgundy. A witty conversation with a down-to-earth girl-next-door. Then a short solitary walk home to bed.

Not sure about the shooting jacket but I'm digging the shoes and the rest.

http://www.purdey.com/clothing-accessories/mens-brushed-cotton-twill-game-jacket-jacket096.aspx
too many details?

in any case cords and shoes need to be in very subdued colours

Again, that's stuff you wear in the country not the metropolis.

Get yerself a frigging overcoat.

Jesus, you'll be wearing wellies next.

Re: Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

Get the Grasmere from C&J instead, a better looking shoe IMCO. Also consider the Ranger from Henry Maxwell/Foster & Son.

You now it makes sense Beestonplace!

Re: Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

I have not scrotchen it yet.

Been to C&J last weekend, in my opinion scrotch-grain only looks good in that "Norwegian" apron-style derby. BTW, a model which is very popular in Vienna.

Re: Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

I noticed the abundance of scrotchgrain in Vienna last week, not keen on the Austrian style shoe though, a bit too rugged for my liking. Lacks the finesse of the English equivalent.

Re: Should I Scratch the scotchgrain itch?

The C&J Cardigan 4 keeps calling me.....but now in the roughcut suede, rather than the cordovan. Look great with a pair of flannels.

Ludwig Reiter's shoes work best with the BAvarian/Austrian Aristo-casual look - their toe boxes are quite high, maybe that is what he meant
