Re: Why Not ? (Part One) ...

I have wondered about getting trousers copied - there is Hussain down brick lane who does it, never tried him though. Anybody done the copying route before with any success?

I doubt i'll ever find a pair of those Levis Mark 1 Casuals like Wooly owns - but my grey sta prest would be great made in a cord - might be worth trying.

... I must question the tag of 'misinformation' often used on here - If somebody knows more than you, or something different to you, it doesn't count as misinformation. Rather it is, surely, education ?

Use the info or not. Who says you have to ?

- Wearing a very nice chunky Donegal Gribby number today over an old Sero for Cape Cod Clothiers OCBD.  Doubtless neither items exist in the imaginations of some... Clearly I am walking around Macclesfield topless on this chilly afternoon ...

I must pop into the West Park museum to warm my cockles.

Re: Why Not ? (Part One) ...

That's cool.

I only said that you could do it.

Which you can.

I wonder why sofas should be flame retardant and not clothing  ?

Next we must discuss how I've been playing fast and loose with planning regulations lately...  All very do-able ...  wink

In the meantime, putting aside sofas, anybody interested in the idea of having their own Tweed woven ?

I think it's a rather nice thing to do.

Re: Why Not ? (Part One) ...

I've had a tailor make me trousers, closely copied on those from an old Brooks suit. Expensive but superb, and he took his time. I did the same with a UK tailor who advertises online - he only took a week but charged even more. Quality was also superb, although not being able to see the fabric in the flesh wasn't ideal (but I assume I could have found some locally and sent it to him).

Going to cheaper places for more casual type trousers could work perhaps. There are plenty of Indian tailors in my locality - I have no idea of prices or quality. GW used one many years ago that I recall him describing as 'a Desperate Dan type place'. Maybe with chinos one can get away with lesser quality construction, although if the quality is too sloppy they won't fit (as happened when I was foolish enough to get some from Alexanders).

some sort of banal legitimacy

And there's always the Luxire copy option, which I've not tried, so can't comment on the results.

Re: Why Not ? (Part One) ...

I have friends who have used Hussain for alterations, might ask if they have tried him for repros - it's just an alternative to getting a decent rise and taper based on a current pair, in essence it should work a treat.

Funny that you should mention Luxire but I stumbled across this blog the other day and this guy seems to order most of his shirts from Luxire and the results do look pretty good

Bravo - And 'Why Not?', say I.

Obviously there is an element of work involved here. Networking. Talking. Discussing. No one-click-of-the-mouse business.

Put the work in and get the results out ?

Maybe.

All lined up.

I just think it's kind to give people a breather between more bolts from the blue.
