Embossed on leather though, just feels wrong...I would perhaps allow the fracaps though because those things are beautiful
Fracap and Red Wing logos are also embossed on leather 😉
Iike them all.
That's what I'm saying Leer, fracaps are so nice I could just about ignore the embossed logo...also it helps it's a nice italian logo
/\ just had a look at my genuine fall 1979 Red Wing 875 Irish Setter Sport Boots in Oro-iginal reddish brown: no external logo anywhere, only a sewn-in tag on the inside of the gusseted tongue of the right boot ....
however, it should be noted that there were only a few dudes wearing Red Wings around the place, me, KB, AT, and a kid from Montana ....
a lot of the time I dressed like a hardcore rugged dirtbag with my Red Wings, Lincoln green Dickies workpants, and navy blue pocket tee
this was a scary look that contrasted strongly with the Fair Isle sweaters, 60/40 parkas, and Top-Siders of the clean-cut kids
anyway, there was only one truly preppy boot in the late '70s, and that was the Bean Boot/Maine Hunting Shoe, and in second place would have been the Vasque Sundowner ....
neither Timberlands nor Red Wings were prevalent among the preps back then, unlike say the Bean blucher moc, which was a real identifier .......
/\ re "paninari prep": Aeropostale, Vanson, and University of Harvard stuff is frickin' hilarious!
Sheesh!
but Timberlands became 100%-approved for hip-hop pretty early on as we all know .....
Leer: your Timberland boots look cool to me
I just don't think those six inch timb boots look very good, match them with some oversized karl kani denim wear and it doesn't matter how good the music, it's always going to look pretty awful. There was quite a nice preppy crossover look at one point but good examples of this are few and far between
/\ I wasn't a fan of the color so I never considered them, never had any Timberland, but I didn't hate them, just never wanted/needed them .....

Tall guy on the right in the second pic is the only successful look of the three, in my opinion... Is that a tuxedo shirt on the guy in the middle?
