I wonder if they changed the cloth for something a bit lighter? The previous Made in the US OCBDs with the lined collars were far too thick and heavyweight for my personal preference.
I wonder indeed , i did have a couple of those heavy US made oxfords and you are right Woof.
Too thick and the collars were slightly shorter, i moved them on sharply.I wore a Pink uni stripe makers today, tough but perfect light Oxford cloth.
Wow, they're doing on-seam side gussets? I requested that from Mercers a year ago and they couldn't accommodate it. This almost sounds too good to be true... while I'd still rather give my business to Mercer for their range of patterns, cloths and customization, you could put me down for a half dozen white Madison-fit Brooks ocbd's at this price, if they've indeed gone back to their roots. Does anyone know if these are the standard two-button cuffs (extra button on the sleeve placket?) or are they doing single-button barrel cuffs again?
Is it me, or do the collar points look a bit short though compared to the Brooks of old?

As I have said 3 times on IS: they don't look right to me. In fact I don't think Brooks would know how to bring back their iconic shirts even if they wanted to. Which they probably don't. Typical 'heritage brand' BS.
If I'm wrong then great.
If they're in the range of three and a quarter inches then it ain't classic Brooks. Not surprised frankly. I know what I'm getting from Mercer at the end of the day and I'm fine paying a bit more for a higher quality article.
It's really impossible to tell from the picture. Heck, how do we know the collars aren't lined? Does it say anywhere that the collars aren't lined? I'd almost put money on them being lined. And what about the button stance? Again, you can't tell because it's obscured by the ties. Could be a 7-button placket.
In any event, an apparent move in the right direction. I'll wait for the inevitable sales where these will be able to be picked up for $60.
Looks like they're unlined. From the Brooks press release:
“Most notably, the trademarked collar was adjusted by removing the interlining for a softer, natural shape and a rolled collar effect returning to the original design of the shirt.”
Still at least it's given us all something to talk about.
Moan about in my case.
Is is me, or does the second button placement look lower than a seven button makers ?
Collar points length looks short to my eyes, although as we all know its the collar button placement that is all important for the roll.
GQ, of all places, has confirmed that the collar points have not changed in length. And they're touting it as a good thing.
"The good news is that the shirt's silhouette hasn't been tampered with. It still features the same button-down collar, with the same spread, and same point length."

At least they're not lined.
It's a good think I have enough vintage Makers and 7-buttons that I really don't feel a pull, other than just slight curiosity. I'm sure some tradly reviews will start popping up over the coming months.
Oh, like you said before. Pardon my multitasking!
