Re: The F**k Ivy Book

The tagline is something like recognise tradition but subvert it...

Which is excatly what the offspring of birds do when coming up with their own calls...they will copy their parents calls but add or omit parts to make them their own..

Isnt that all we just want to do deep down..?

Dont we all just want to sing our own song, Hep?

He looks like a middle age dad trying to be hip. Nice products put together badly.

No, the title Fuck Ivy implies that the style is big/popular.

Is it?

Re: The F**k Ivy Book

A pastiche/parody of ivy (i.e. ivy minus all the bits that make it good) has been fashionable (although not remotely as popular or universal as ivy was back in the day) for some time.

Ooh a forward by Nick Wooster.

The douchy cover photo demonstrates that, for one not already knowing, McNairy is the sartorial equivalent of a mashup artist, taking two distinct things and trying to birth them into a new chimera.  When it  works, it's a  good trick, but I'm not seeing it here.

As noted above, the Hilfiger and Lauren fueled "Street Prep" schtick has over a decade on it's back.

Coming soon to a remainder table near you.

Why bother with F**k? There aren't any standards any more. He could call it it "Ivy Style is a Dogs*** F***ing Mess and You Suck but Buy This Book Anyway You Dumb Motherf***ers" and nobody would blink.

I think you'll find Corbyn is closer to being a post-punk, Rumbelows salesman than anything resembling Ivy.

Re: The F**k Ivy Book

I think he fused the wrong bits of two separate styles.. he took the fit of 90s hip hop and the fabrics of Ivy. where as he shouldve taken the fit of Ivy and the fabrics of Ivy and just put on some Pharcyde and be done with it.

Re: The F**k Ivy Book

Appropriately enough, circa 93 I was dropping the Pharcyde tune Oh Shit to great effect.
