Well, there are nice bits coming out of McNairy's brain, I remember a tremendous Woolrich Woolen Mills parka that sold for too much money - I always hope to get it one day on the bay for nothing... But yes, he himself doesn't look too good. Don't care. Especially 'bout that book. At the moment I am reading the original Preppy Handbook and must admit, I like it... not worse than that old grumpy man's Ivy book - if you understand the Preppy book. I don't understand why anybody in the whole wide world took it seriously

McNairy is a real 'c***nugget',
his concept of design is dubious ( take a classic and give it a whacky 'twist' - his navy suede buck with a yellow sole pretty much sums this up ), he's not even the best exponent of this take of 're-imagining' on classics designs.
He's losing collaborators at an alarming rate, many of the US firms he's worked with have dumped over his exorbitant 'design fees' followed by poor sales- the 'ultra-premium' pricing of his collaborations in the current economic climate is a particularly hard sell, (his last range for Keds was discounted on their website before it even hit the shops).
His own premium New Amsterdam label is leaking cash ( and currently looking to re-finance/re-structure it's debt) due to horrific sales results which is now also starting to have a knock on effect on his 'diffusion' (i.e. cheaper) ranges.
He's starting to look a bit desperate now, publishing a book with swearing on the cover ( no doubt followed by a PR generated story that his book has been 'banned' by retailers just to get that extra bit of press ).
Can't say I care much for his wares, although I thought his take on the Playboy chukka boot, which was constructed by Sanders on his behalf was a really nice boot. In fact better than most versions out there.
Alas trying to actually locate and buy a pair is even beyond Ethan Hunt's capabilities...
I dont know...the nicest thing about the playboy is that seamless step from upper to sole which he got rid off...!
Anyway...I dont think this guy has got 'it' whatever 'it' is..
But didn't the Huttons have a leather beading that separated the upper from the sole?
As I may be the only one to have read this book at the moment, its actually a hand book of what to wear and what a man should own, both clothing and accessories wise. I think Mark has lost track of what he was once good at doing, but he does not hate Ivy but more of less gives us a hilarious view that Ivy is within everything and influenced everything men's fashion is about .
Yes. When someone is telling you what to wear or selling you clothes, my rule of thumb is to look at what they wear. He looks like an utter penis.
Q.V. Karl Lagerfeld
He actually reminds me of someone that used to post here not too long ago.
He had some real horrors in the Ivy Style exhibition they put on at the Fashion Institute of Technology
This guy's handing out style advice in a book?
