That's not really the case in terms of the variations though Moose..I know about the Gant story, but the collars are so varied over time, the label chronology also confuses me a bit as to when and where they got made.
This is my source for Hawaiian shirts.

My late father was a lobbyist for Hawaiian sugar at one point, and he had a boatload of aloha shirts, all of which sadly disappeared over the years. Some of them were quite gaudy, quite a contrast for the man who considered any collar other than a buttondown as fit only for "crooners."
Or "lounge lizards."
Damn fine shirt. The loop collar is my favourite.
I need a new one. Something just like Patrick's in #23 would be perfect.
& I know this is a dweeb-like question, but should one size down from one's usual tagged size, or go big?

Ha.
Check these out too

(re #34) Yep, that does look great. I'm not sure I could make it work, frankly, but I like the look on Patrick. I wore one similar quite often in my college summer daze, but now, as an old man, I might just look too much like, well, an old man.

The real deal is hard to wear badly IMHO

The Magnum shirts are not all that generously cut. I need a jacket that's 46-47 inches in the chest, and the Maui XL shirt is just barely big enough
Eyeing up a Reyn Spooner Hawaiian print popover. The label says made in Korea. Were they ever in the US?
Yes, I have plenty Reyns made in Hawaii.
Apart from their initial enterprise? I mean mass produced, I suppose. Anyway stupid question.
This shirt is a size small with 22" pit-to-pit. This size shirt is thin on the ground; beggars can't be choosers. Korea will have to do!

Most of my shirts are a few years old, but certainly long after Reyn Spooner started up.
But here you go (from reynspooner.com):
While a significant portion of our apparel is now sewn in Asia, Reyn Spooner still maintains production in Hawaii. Products such as our Lahaina Sailor Collection, kids apparel, eco-products such as Aloha Squares, napkins and eco bags as well as much of our accessories are still hand sewn in Hawaii. We’ve also started an in-sourcing strategy beginning with our Made in California Indigo Collection 2016. Moving forward, we are committed to actively look for ways to increase our Made in Hawaii and Made in the USA programs.
It's a Kahala. I've never loved the look of those collars (which are not bd) with prints, but they make solid versions that I really like:

Pricey for me, though, especially sine I live in New England and can only wear aloha shirts or similar in the summer. I have some great Hawaiians but I won't pay more than $40...
