Re: The Beatles Thread

That is a great song. I'm not a McCartney fan in general, and I even dislike a lot of what are more his songs with the Beatles. But it's almost like he became a little edgier, for a short while, as a solo artist. I like "Hi, Hi, Hi" quite a bit, too. I pull out Ram a lot--kind of a summer seasonal LP for me, has that kind of vibe. And I enjoy the Band on the Run Lp.

Obviously.

Ironically, my favorite song by McCartney isn't even a Beatles song. It's Juniors Farm.

I have a fondness for Macca when he goes into music hall mode: Honey Pie, Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey and You Gave Me The Answer. Wonderful stuff, I wished he had done more like this.

He has an enviable position in British culture: he is held and respected at the level of almost untouchable royal like stature, I am talking about the Queen herself and the Queen Mother when she was alive. Hence when he became a victim of that one legged gold digger, the English press well known for its fondness of dishing the dirt, kept all the lurid details of this fantasist's past and her colourful career under wraps and did not make public what they knew until the divorce. It was out of respect for Paul McCartney that they did this, quite amazing. They certainly wouldn't do that for Paul Weller.

great effortless pop rocker with perfect vocals, spavined lyrics, nice Jimmy McCulloch guitar solo, and a beautiful B-side to boot, overall a fantastic single

Re: The Beatles Thread

The McCartney who took over shortly after McCartney's death was pretty good, really, much better than the McCartney who took over a few years later.
