Nothing wrong with reliable products available everywhere. For example, my H&K shirts can be bought over the internet, even if I would live somewhere remote. Reassuring.

Clean and serene: blue F.G. van den Heuvel shirt made from Thomas Mason fabric, dark blue with round green and orange orbs madder tie again again from F.G. Heuval, Brooks Brothers Elliot Advantage chinos in navy (plenty of room and ideal for lounging around the office), black sleeveless jumper from M&S same as the socks, belt and boxer shorts, hall-marked silver cufflinks from Gieves & Hawkes, rimless spectacles with horn rim temples from 2007, vintage Oris Commander watch from 1995 with new strap, pair of black brogues from Church's and green herringbone jacket from J.Press.

Simple, understated and relaxed ready for action.

Nothing worse than artisanal Cola drinks, it needs to be mass produced to a secret standardized recipe the whole world over. The only thing we should be arguing about is whether the sugar has come from corn, beet or other sugar producing vegetable. I know Yuca will not agree.

Well...black knitwear....black clothing in general....simply doesnt look right on me - although a black Lacoste polo looks great in Summer (??!!). Why?

Re: It is a simple as that!

Cola drinks have no appeal to me. I already have more than enough sugar and caffeine in my life from 2 or 3 Italian coffees a day, which whilst being unnecessary from a nutritional perspective, do taste delicious and form a perfect conclusion to a nice meal.

However most people I know - excluding Italians - cannot enjoy decent coffee without ruining it by mixing it with all sorts of crap. And view with wonder and disgust the drinking of Italian coffee minus such garbage.

Re: It is a simple as that!

Really? Whenever I am in (Northern) Italy, I only see men drinking coffee (= Espresso) standing at the banco ("Bar" of the cafe).

That doesn't really contradict, or contrast with, anything I have written.

Beastie, be honest, did you read 'excluding'  as 'including'?

I always find in mildly irritating and yet quite quaint when visiting the UK for business or family, you ask for a coffee you get some nescafe creamy nutty instant thing. When you haven't had it regularly for years the effects on the tastebuds are somewhat shocking.

The coffee (Java) in Holland is superb. I haven't been there for around 20 years and I recall it distinctly.

In the UK? Even in a cafe it's a risk, with the odds against you.

Re: It is a simple as that!

True Brits drink tea.

The coffee aroma is pleasant but I don't really give a toss about coffee.

I need a tannin hit.
