Some very bizarre thread bumps today.
But they both live under bridges.
but I found so many clues proving that Beestonplace and Jim were the same person .....
for instance, both of them like moth-eaten sweaters ..... that cannot be mere coincidence .....
the squabbling with FNB routine could just be a smokescreen .....
no, it took me a long time to not conflate Ivy with Ivy League but I really think Jim is laying it on thick with Beestonplace ... think about it ... the J.P. Tod's, PRL, and best of all the Hermes ties questions ... classic comedy there, just goofing on Euro stereotypes .....
the thing is that Beestonplace seems to know a bit too much about cars, whereas Jim doesn't drive, hasn't driven since that trip he took to L. L. Bean in the early '80s .....
... if my memory serves me well .....
As Armchaired says, Beeston's IP is different to Jim's ..... but then you can get gizmos to disguise your IP location....
It would be his best effort yet. The subtle layering that has gone on to build up the picture of the mysterious bored European businessman who jets in and out of London and other capital cities. Shirt buying in Jermyn St, lunches at Rowley's. Amusing himself with impulse purchases at airport shops.......
Being careful not to put in his trademark phrases and the 'Best x' sign off on posts........
Lunches at Rowleys??? Are you mad?
But, yes I am indeed very much Eurotrash compared to many iGents. I do travel a lot indeed, and I am very conservative on the one hand, on the other I am a music fanatic, with a rather eclectic taste.
I AM quite an "Euro" stereotype, in the eyes of Americans and Brits. But if you get to know some non-Brits/Yanks, then you will find out that life here in "Europe" (which is not a country) can be quite different to the Netflix/Can-I-have-chips-with-that contemporary lifestyle some people lead. Actually, why not ask Hepcat, he can probably confirm that (although living in NL he might have the occasional Piet Friet lunch (which is actually quite fun).
So, sorry to disappoint you, I am not "Jim" but Beestonplace, and happy to share bits of my Euro-Uber-Male-wannabe life, which is sometimes quite exciting, but often very lonely. "Touring can make you crazy" said on of my favourite composers. And it is true.
Best X
Beestonplace

Well we like you Beeston - whoever you are.
Not "Jim".
And not "trad" in the US way, but Euro trad.
Nothing wrong with good greasy ethnic food. We have Kebab shops everywhere, thanks to the cultural enrichment, or "these people are like a gift to us" (Karin Göring-Eckhardt, Green party).
I am Harry Enfield as "Considerably richer than youuu", love it.
Oh dear. I didn't realize I'd started a thread...
Is that you in your profile pic?
