Was actually just in Brookline last week and saw banners up for the centennial.
My father-in-law was a close friend of JFK at Harvard. I once asked him if his fabled "charisma" was evident at that time. He replied, "No more than you or I would have had at the same age. He was just a nice guy with a rich father." (Notwithstanding that comment, I suspect JFK always had more charisma than I was ever endowed with.)
In one of the last conversations I had with my father-in-law, he remarked that he never would have dreamed that JFK would end up as president.
