Re: Striped Blazers

While I like a bit of flash and panache, I would be hard pressed to find any occasion to wear one. Opportunities to wear a regular, solid-color blazer are rare enough these days...at least in Slovenly California.

Re: Striped Blazers

It's definitely a special events jacket. It doesn't carry much connotation in the USA except that it's a little too sensational to even be a statement jacket. I think it's easier to wear a bright of pale colored solid or plaid  jacket.

It depends on the environment you are in and what you want to accomplish. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it does have a little too much of a upper crust, old school look. In public, Ive noticed that those sorts of items attract more attention than others, not because they are bold but because as a symbol they threaten people, especially the middle aged who can sometimes be on the lookout for anyone they worry has an advantage over them. It's a bit sad really.

Re: Striped Blazers

This was the moment, circa 1997, when the striped blazer died in the U.K...

Re: Striped Blazers

^ I quite like that actually. Just the blazer, not the everything else. But I don't think anyone, especially not Tony Marlow, should be wearing that blazer outside of Three Men In A Boat.
