I like leffrottage better. Something you might see at the Christopher St. station.
I find the v-cleat (or the nettleton o-cleat) to be a brutal winter shoo as well. i find, though, those noo-skool leather heels where the back edge is a rubber indent is really all thats needed to make it slip -proof. my loakes get most of the foul-weather wear and i dont find them any more slippery than all-rubber heels.
/\Aye. And the really good ones, develop extra character and qualities as they mature.
I just bought a pair of the JM Weston split toe derby (sometimes called the demi-Chasse) in tan boxcalf. They have a double sole and storm welt, and yet somehow don't seem like gunboats at all. My Alden whiskey split toes look completely crude and unrefined next to them.

I would have to say that the quality of the Thom Browne shoes and the designs are something new on the shoe scene. But then the price (even on eBay) is prohibitive. If the photos had been better on the BB web site I would have snapped a pair of the TB navy blue and white scotchgrain specs (C&J) when they were like 50% off.
