Sartorial temptations never taken

I remember when the film Wall Street came out and I saw Michael Douglas in a flannel suit with turn back cuffs on the sleeve. Although it was long before I could afford really well made clothes, I never forgot the image, it seemed so unusual, so powerful, and something Id never considered. I never have had it done but I think about it always, and some day Im going to go for it.

What has been your sartorial temptation that youve never indulged in?

Re: Sartorial temptations never taken

I don't have a patch madras jacket.  I probably wouldn't get one either.

Though I did (or do somehwere) have a pair of patch madras shorts.  An otherwise curt and crusty old Brahmin woman that used to terrify the hell out of me, she smiled when she saw me in them once, and said without irony, "very becoming short trousers".

I've held off on the Russell Plaid too (I knew the pattern, just not the name until this website).  Held off, because it always seemed a little flashy and bold for me.  But it's growing on me.

Never worn a double-breasted suit either.

Or monk shoes.

Or contrasing collar and cuffs (white) on a blue shirt.

I've wanted to try a light tan or very light green shirt -- but haven't done so.  I think they'd look good with the write suit or jacket and tie.

I want a pale/mid Grey or nice Beige Chambray jacket. Press had them a few years back & I hope they will again. I should have got one when I had the chance. It never occured to me that they would stop doing them.
Natural shoulders, sack cut, 3 to 2. A jacket I can 'live in' during the summer when I'm feeling too shy to wear my Seersucker.

Sadly Seersucker really sticks out in England. I save mine mainly for garden parties etc. I've worn it a few times in the city, but it turns a few too many heads for my liking. Shame.

I saw a guy in a patch madras jacket at the opera last night.  People really took advantage of the warm weather to break out the summer gear.

Re: Sartorial temptations never taken

The pocket napkin I cannot wear.  I never know how to fold it correctly.  But I admire it on others who do this well.

I have not worn a proper hat such as Fedora or Homburg.

The split back/fish tail trousers one often can see with the Savile Row suits -- I do not have one, but I do not believe that I will order this feature if I ever order a bespoke suit.  It makes the man look like Humpty Dumpty!

One time I had a double breasted suit, but it did not suit me.

I wore my Press seersucker jacket for the first time this season yesterday whilst shopping. Many cmpliments.  But it made me feel very hot!  This is something I would not wear back home.

I have always wanted to get a very well constructed, if not custom, corduroy suit.

I shall commission a suit:
