Christopher Walken in The Dead Zone, 1983.

Never read the book.
Never seen the recent TV series...
I watched this film night with my brother after dinner and I liked the style of it very much.
Americana, old Bean-esq, Maine, cardigans, pea-coats, a J Press BD (I'm sure). Very low-key wardrobe, but one that seemed to ring true.
Any thoughts from anyone else?

Your old friend,  Miles.

I loved the line to the nurse who's house was on fire: 'It's not too late - HURRY!
He says HURRY very well.
Got any other good 'Classic American Dressing' films for me H.?
Please no 'Dead Poets' and crap like that.
As if you would...

I like Jack Lemmon in 'The Out of Towners'.
Americana again, more than hardcore 'Trad'.
Interesting pleated centre vent in the back of JL's suit...

Miles - with tidings of comfort & joy.

Mel Brooks in 'High Anxiety' looks very 'American' to me, although he is probably trying to evoke an 'English' look... ... ... Looks great anyway.
I love all this stuff.
I may not wear it myself.
But I love 'The Look'.

A great wardrobe was exhibited by Michael Douglas in "The Game". What I would call modern American trad with the tiniest bit of flare. I understand that Oxxford dressed Mr. Douglas for the movie and he looks outstanding in every scene and at the same time muted. A wonderful balance where you definitely notice the wearer and realize that he is exquistely dressed but not one piece of his outfit overwhelms you. Oxxford should use stills of this movie in their ads and I only wish that all wall street execs (and other monied Americans) took a page from this movie.

Good call Ed. - We need more like you, have you a brother who could post here too?
'The Game' is very good 'MODERN Trad' - Not the same as the '50's, but still a part of the evolution...
Ed. gets the important point that 'Trad' is not period dressing.
I still want 'Trad' to turn into 'CAD', however (Clasic American Dressing) ...
