Re: Recent Press on J. Simons

The above is only work in progress. I imagine JG started updating the site & then dropped it to go out & live life.

- Very London Ivy.

The story on JS's lease is out there now. Whatever happens happens.

- Very London Ivy.

Whatever does happen next year none of us have to hand our OCBDs back.

We roll on like we always have. Did the scene die when Austins' closed?

Re: Recent Press on J. Simons

I wonder where the bloke in the pic was actually from, suppose he's English though and it'll have something to do with the fact that it's the London take on Ivy too, but he looks like he means business I think. I mean IMHO a lot of people look pretty ordinary, or like wimps even to be frank with you, when wearing that style, albeit decent enough....I do appreciate the style on many, make no mistake, but that's basically how I see it...

But those who manage to make the look work give it true power ( you called it a vigorous look yourself once, Jim ). Anyway, I'd be surprised if the guy was anything other than English, if that'd be a fair statement. I'd surely appreciate it if someone would be able to prove me wrong.....

^ ...and the Japanese made the point of keeping Ivy and preppy quite separate in terms of styles.

Re: Recent Press on J. Simons

AAAT do their own thing which is very different to London/European American influenced stuff.

Many there are very happy to be supplied with rules for their uniform - wherever it comes from. Those posters do not take kindly to any deviation from their dress code, whether it is the bloke who just had the temerity to suggest there are trad items he is 'averse to' or me taking the piss out of tartan jackets.

AAAT is not really Americana; it is more like the tweedy young doctor character in Peyton Place rather than young Rodney Harrington(not that I followed the plot of Peyton Place,it was the sort of thing your mother would watch). The only difference is that the doctor character was a little less stuffy than some on AAAT, but they like the fogey thing, so good luck to them.

Re: Recent Press on J. Simons

But... let's not forget that the photo of the cool guy is a result of a professional photo shoot and a stylist was probably involved (possibly a clued-up stylist).

Re: Recent Press on J. Simons

A very nice twist on this thread, Chums...

It's the Ol' Hendrix argument all over again, No?

- How much he could have contributed if he wasn't so much his lovable flawed human self...

- And then you have consider how little he would have contributed if he wasn't so much his lovable flawed human self.

We all do what we can do at whatever level. And that's all we can do.

You want more? ...  Then do it yourself!
