She looks like a walk-on in a Fellini film.

What fantastic pictures, thanks.

Spillane looks like he could reach through the photo and punch you in the face.

Kiss Me Deadly is such a great, perverse movie.  We need a Ralph Meeker thread.

Re: The Ivy League Style: The Boom Years.

Dick Van Dyke had a big impression in the UK with his TV show.

' Hi honey I'm home'. Opening the door, he is straight into the house; no hallway or anything to complicate things. Enthusiastic, wide eyed Mary Tyler Moore is ready to greet him.

He was smart in a young, suited Kennedy kind of a way. But it was earlier than 'Get Smart' for example which you would watch for clothing clues.

Jack Lemon was always notable for wearing a hat when nobody of his age in England was doing so. A typical New Yorker to Brits. He represented the angst and neuroses of the frantic US big-city lifestyle.

'Stone me what a life !' Hancock is much more lethargic than Lemon - who always seemed a driven man. Hancock is more about the longeurs of a typical British Sunday afternoon.

Re: The Ivy League Style: The Boom Years.

Hancock definitely had all the igent pretention.

He wore a Homburg, like old man Steptoe, astrakhan collar coats and even a smoking jacket.

He was only a few miles away in East Cheam too. So I definitely need to get my act together

Tony Hancock was also the source of the memorable primary school play on words.

Eight year olds would point and recite 'Toe. Knee. Hand. Cock!'
