The second one does have a 3-2 roll and no pleats to be seen.  No. 3 might be an example of your updated American stuff.

I like the cut of the third guy's jib. Great pics Tony. Also, thanks for posting the Cooper pics. I've never paid him the mind I should. It sounds like it would be worthwhile to read one of the biographies on him. AQG, I like your new SHAG avatar. His stuff is a lot of fun.

Re: The Ivy League Style: The Boom Years.

I found one of these online mags then and posted a thread, then found loads more so am repeating them here:

Meanwhile another college paper:

Headline reads "Homecoming Miss Taken Friday Evening" - not all FIVE at once I hope...

http://www.gadaily.com/index.php?option … ;Itemid=69

SERO really got this campus marketing to themselves...

And another, with a half ad missing , but a SERO "Gentleman' on a Japanese bike!

Nice blazer ad too.

And here GANT get in on the act alongside their rivals.

http://dspace.wrlc.org/doc/get/2041/428 … 671102.pdf

Bass Weejuns only $19 a pair.

Bigger download this one but ads for sperry topsiders, GANT, SERO $13.95 in 1974, Harbormaster raincoats and a Leg o' Lamb for only $1.39...
This one also shows my ignorance - I thought Grosse Point was a made up town for the movie with John Cusack

The Updike photos remind me that Corbis always has the best photos.

Yes, The (Fabulous) Wailers still play and they can still be great. Sadly they don't dress like this any more.

Re: The Ivy League Style: The Boom Years.

Here are two articles we need to locate (Horace?):

1. LIFE magazine, November 22/1954 - article on Ivy League Look

2. GQ magazine, 1959 - "Fashion Is a Tradition at Brooks Brothers" by George Plimpton
