Eastwood apparently modelled his look and acting style on McQueen in Bullitt. I appreciate his efforts, and applaud his taste, but feel that Clint sadly peeked in the 70s, a decade of sartorial ugliness. He will forever have the whiff of that hairy flairy era about him, even when sporting a tweed jacket and repp tie. His commitment to jazz and the clear intelligence that runs through much of his work, certainly as a director, makes him that rare thing - a genuinely interesting, individual talent. Yeh but I agree - that barnet is a shocker.
GG
Eastwood was acting quite a bit before 'Bullitt.' Methinks your source is incorrect.

Blue Oxford shirt.
Dark Blue knit tie.
Black loafers.
Black Brolly.
RTL Beater watch on a plain RTL RAF G10 strap.
In pockets:
Red polka dot snuff handkerchief from Jimmy Smiths' on Charing Cross Road in case I get a drippy nose.
Key to flat.
A credit card and a bit of real money to give to a Big Issue seller for whom I have the hots.
Nothing else needed.
Nose pointing forwards into tomorrow. Philly Joe's solos keeping the beat in my head.

Look!
This is on the wrong thread!
Do you think the chap has enough zippers? Looks like some sort of Ivy bondage gear.
Well, there your pipe, your trusty penknife, hankie, wallet, spectacles... You can never have enough pockets old chum. Trust you to think it's a touch kinky. A man who likes to be photographed in his toilet.

Two out of three is not bad.
Here's an interesting (but not really Ivy) ad from Botany 500. Nice pose, good copy.

i don't think Patrice Lumumba has been mentioned:

/\ I had to google this guy........
Sharp looking.
His sleeves in that second photo have been pressed......accident or design?
didn't notice that! if you look closely, there are faults with the jacket, e.g. the shoulders, but the overall impression in that pic is excellent i think
An interesting difference between the Brits and the Yanks, is that Americans often have politicians or intellectuals as style icons. This could never happen in the UK, for several obvious reasons (regardless of Ivy League credentials).
'Trad' muddies the waters too. That other agenda that they have...
