No I was being somewhat facetious though I'm not a fan of monk straps in general. I avoid them personally but I'm not diametrically opposed if the design works. I kind of like Rancourt's mimosa buckle loafers (with the right outfit) but I would never buy a pair myself. When it comes to footwear, like most things, I'm all for streamlined aesthetics. On a boot or moccasin, I can deal with a buckle if it's subtle, but I won't say they wouldn't look better with espresso colored waxed cotton double-eyelet laces!
