Re: Ivy League style for today

Nice shirt, WM!

Do you ever wear it tucked and if so, where does that placket fall? I've had all of my Mercer pullovers adjusted to a 3-button front but you've definitely inspired me to go full sleeve on the next order. I'm thinking pall mall pink royal oxford. Debating whether or not to leave the placket alone...

Re: Ivy League style for today

Aw…that’s very nice of you Chuck/Hitman, but I don’t need a page here…

I’m very happy where I is and tbh, I only look at Talk Ivy here and nuttin’ else…  I’m not one for change me…

Besides – Stan speaks to the people here…he shares great tales of  great stuff as it was and will always be…and covers pretty much everything of interest here with an amazing load of knowledge on the subject to back it up..
He’s also from Thee United States of Whatever…. He SHOULD be doing the talking…..he he…

Give me a page and it’ll be TRACTOR OF THE DAY… Turn–up of the month…. A Who’s who of You’re a French Ponce & You know you are… WHAT BOOT?!?...yada yada yada…

I’m niche market here me….and just because I’m  serious eye candy doesn’t mean I should get any favours…

Have you stopped tittering at the back?

Then I’ll continue…

PLUS – I disappear for  periods….I like a good insufferable blitz on these pages and then a step back for a bit…

I know most people here don’t consider me very Ivy at all…but there ain’t a thing I’ve worn on these pages (OK.. maybe dungarees/suspenderization aside he he…) that you can’t find or could find in John Simons – to take that as my point of Ivy here in London Town -  in fact what with stuff you can find there like Vetra/Pike Bros/Pendleton/that American Cruiser Jacket lot whose name I can never remember…?/Goodwear/Dickies/Champion/Caps galore/Military stuff/Paraboot/Leathers in recent years as well as over them years…then maybe you can see why I might think that I’m just as Ivy as the next man…
I got a Big Ben chore from them once even?!?!
John’s fave jacket currently is the Hacking Jacket that came in to him recently for example….which I just find wonderful…
It’s all about playing around with bits.. taking stuff from anywhere on the globe that fits into your way of thinking…. THAT WORKS FOR ME….

Once there is rules... then as Thee 'Ooo once put it....THE GOOD'S GONE...

Seriously – someone should have taken a photo of everyone who attended that JS/Robert Elms chinwag earlier this year…. A really tremendous array of styles where I felt very much at home…
If that was London IVY? Then count me in…

My Ivy might not just be your Ivy….but anyhoo – enough bollocks…

It’s all Americana now innit… it’s 2015 kids…

Give Acton Baby a page whilst I think of it – now that fella can answer anything he he…

Back to answering Chuck then:

Chuck – that’s a wonderful chore in thee time honoured…Poncais Francais Tradition…I know a lot of people who would argue that they should be shorter…and on the arms too….but I guess if you’ve got the taste for them, then you’re gonna keep going back for more….so it’s great to have a varying bunch of shapes and fits over time, eh?
And don’t think there’s many pickings to be had down here my man…
You may well find one in the Vintage Showroom…. but you’ll have to fork out a ridiculous amount  of moolah for the privilege…
I don’t do enough General Vintage shopping around town either these days to know what’s what…

Ebay France occasionally throws up a gem n all…
Try VESTE DE TRAVAIL in the search engine if you’ve not already…

American Classics can be pricey meanwhile, but again, their strength is that they have some great bits…and you can try before you buy… I’ve never minded paying a bit more for summat I really like and that I know fits me well… even the same size can vary, eh?
Their current leather stuff is fantastic too – that young fella Ben really knows his jackets and is a delight to banter with – his level of detail is phenomenal on them!

McCoys I’m still not convinced by tbh – mainly because it’s silly money for pretty much everything they bring out…

Yeah, a lot of it is great & I’d have a field day if money was no option, but  I see no reason to travel too far from Buzz Rickson currently…

Hitman – Ollie’s right…you is a grumpy fecker Sunshine & no mistake, he he…
If I had a “jardin” like that I’d have my old fella out in every photo n all to take the viewer away from the fact that it was so nice & therefore such an almighty bloody great SMILE that one was projecting?!?!?

But as always..a splendid turnout…

I’m sending Leer over on the next flight to shown you how’s it done…
Erm...that's smile btw....not whipping yer Johnson out....
Then again - it's absolutely none of my business what you get up to...but I digress...

P.S. It’s a 6 button Makers tomorrow ….BUTTONED DOWN I hasten to add… I shall make the effort.. .and a 3/2 maybe …. YUP - I’m so FACKIN’ IVY IT HURTS….

P.P.S. Ok – you can go snigger now…

Great Mercer Pullover WM - I like the longer placket on that

Did you do Ollie's size down on the body trick on that one - or is that as it was per that size ?

I didn't do the size down thing.  This is just a 15-32.  It's really the perfect relaxed billowy fit, without being too voluminous.

That's great, Captain. Perfect colour combination to these eyes (where's that colour wheel chart...)

Patch and flap pocket mustard jacket with denim works a treat.
