Brooks Makers pinpoint BD in a kind of sage green
Olive Keydge slack jacket
'Ill-fitting' Levis chinos
Falke Argyle socks in tasteful contrasting shades of green
Quite well-worn, thrifted chocolate brown suede Clarks' Wallabees - can't quite get used to the solidity of the sole

Picked up a lovely heathery lambswool crew neck sweater.  £3.99 from 'Help The Aged'.

Re: Ivy League style for today

They seem pretty hard and rigid, as if I'm walking on blocks.  I was surprised, wearing them out for the first time this morning, about not only that but how quickly I took to them.  They seem like a nice alternative to a desert boot, say, for simply meandering between the supermarket and Oxfam.

I'm wearing sneakers.  Big Tony 'comfy'.  Nice morning listening to Bill Evans with Stan Getz.  Cordo wingtips just ain't 'comfy' in my little music room.

Would be good to see AQG posting again.  I miss his raconteur, banter and wit.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I had a similar experience the other day Mister Panic Sir.
I was in Marks & Spencer and a man came towards me in almost exactly the same clothes as me. Same items, same cut, same colour combination. The only problem being he must have been about 80.
Damn you all and your Ivy. Where's my leather jacket and Levis?

It all depends on the cut and how you deploy your sartorial armoury and skirmishing line.  It's a raid alright, with tactics by T.E. Lawrence, Captain Mannering and the 'Trane.

Viyella is always tricky, that 80% cotton and 20% wool mix, never had use of it in suburbia lacking that cold, limitless prairie expense of a stately home.

Check the mirror. Do you look like like a stylish old man or a sad old man? Be honest to yourself and change a thing or two if need be. It can't be that hard. Just take a look at Charlie Watts for an example of what growing gracefully old can be like for instance. Staying in shape also helps I suppose smile

^ Wearing that today actually.

A Sero Purist long sleeve madras, white | navy | yellow | blue | red, and a thrifted mid grey saddle shoulder shetland now forming holes.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Today:

Nothing that fits:

Brooks shirt (Blue) & herringbone jacket (Brown).
FOTL WHite T.
501s & desert boots with the laces pulled so tight to keep them on my feet that they've got this curious overlapped 'double-breasted' look to them.

Hair is a bit thin, but trim.

Ceaseless taste of stale blood in my mouth...

And I do look kinda F*ckin' hip on it all to be honest!  wink
