Re: Ivy League style for today

lazy, sloppy, bored:

ecru 505's (used to be white)
white cashmere Aran knit sweater (thrifted for my fiance but now mine)
ecru woolen socks
white keds
1 weeks beard.

I went out yesterday in same outfit but with blue shetland instead and someone shouted 'poof' at me. Fuck knows what'll happen when I go up the shops later.

I wouldn't go all stone and I wouldn't go all black. In fact this is the only time I've done it. I like it in this one case but don't think I'll make a habit of it.

Yeah it's a nice sweater with Navy 505's. Too slouchy with any of my loafers though. Only things I have that look right are keds or tan drivers with a penny strap. Very continental, minet style. I love it. £2 it cost. Bargain. Hand woven and completely seamless.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Hi... New here - very new. As all time 60s fan and sort-of-fashionist (always cooked my own soup) with big affinity to the classic but modern day "Mod look" I'm mostly appealed by classic Italian style and of course the Ivy league look -  which is timeless anyway. So I think I might be quite well here... posting from time to time smile

Today:

cheap H&M chinos, light brown and rolled up
turquoise H&M socks
John W. Shoes desert boots, navy with sand coloured crepe rubber sole
blue striped woven Peak Performance belt
some NOS ("McNeal" - house brand of a German warehouse called "P&C" - from the second hand shop, original package) striped popeline 10 Euro shirt (classic fit, white/blue/yellow fine stripes), unfortunately no button down collar
some cheap P&C housebrand navy cotton V-neck jumper, military style (with attached cotton canvas-like shoulder collar)
Energie trench coat cotton jacket, short - plaid, brown/light grey/navy
vintage short wool Burberrys' scarf (70s)
brown Marks & Spencer messenger leather bag (I work as a teacher)
new Lotto tortoise Aviator shades

Ready. Any thoughts?

I might be wrong on this, but I think I've heard that Ian Strachan wore Levis and black Sebago.

I think black shoes look better with faded jeans than dark ones.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Black loafers and blue jeans makes me think 80's Ska-revival, maybe some white socks thrown in too. I'm neither for or against but I don't think I'd get away wearing it.

Black lace-ups, I think, rather than loafers.  With, yes, white socks.  Still to be seen.
