Re: Ivy League style for today

Sorry, gang, but it is grey and dreary in The Sticks today.  The awful weather just screams for something brighter than Ivy.  So...

DB suit in a slightly less dark than normal shade of navy dupioni.
Yellow POW check shirt with blue overcheck.  A Jermyn street sort of thing.
Red bow tie with navy, yellow and white foulardish bits.
White linen pocket napkin.
Brown double-monks.

Yep.  This is truly mongrel style.  If anyone can put a name to it, they're a better sartorial taxonomist than me.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I've just been looking at Sidney Poitier and he has much more shoulder going on in '67 than he does in '63.

The Italian or Anglo influence a little, maybe?

It's all a spectrum.

Re: Ivy League style for today

In another challenge to the group's powers of sartorial taxonomy, I'm kitted out non-Ivy again.

DB suit in charcoal with a ropestripe.  While the stripe is hardly invisible, it's on the muted side.
Sky bengal stripe shirt with cuffs de grenouille.
Woven red tie with a viney-leafey pattern in silver, blue and black.  Some of the leaves have little yellow paisleys in 'em.
Cordovan 974 gunboats.
And, for fun, red socks.  Really red socks.  These fuckers are bright.  They don't even make fire engines like this.  Pantherella's "scarlet" color.  I can see getting a lot of use out of them.

Nice day out.  Only in the 70s.  I'll have to go for a stroll on what passes for a boulevard here in The Sticks

Here's who I'm thinking of:

Not sure if he's in The Garrick.

Re: Ivy League style for today

... I put on socks just to see my Brother, btw, because he thinks I look like a mental patient when I don't.

After he'd gone I took them off again.

Too hot now in my Cords so I've gone back to shorts. Beer O'Clock soon, I fancy...

A Hooray Harry Handbook.  Such stuff as dreams are made of.

I'm with you, Jim: I think I was born on the wrong continent and in the wrong class.  Instead, I'm a midwestern-born, eastern prep-school educated, Dull Drew.  I'd gladly trade some of my hole-y shetlands and frayed chinos for an overabundance of stripes and high spirits.
