Re: Ivy League style for today

^ Id agree with most of that, the trousers would be fine without pleats IMO. I'd add that it looks way too nipped in at the waist. The lad has fairly broad shoulders and a slim waist by the looks of things and having the jacket that waisted just looks a bit odd to me.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I never said I didn't like the look. I didn't say it didn't work for the poster and I would never try and take "6" down a peg or anything like that. The guy is clearly a well dressed individual. Just to clear up an ambiguity from my previous post.

All I'm saying is it doesn't fit the brief for the thread.

I'll take back what I said about shoulders though. I think "6" does have naturally square shoulders which made me think they were padded. Having looked back a few pages I can see he does have a decent set of shoulders.

All in, it's a good look... but it isn't Ivy (I hate saying that).

^ True though. Still, not far off.

There have been way less Ivy fits posted and people have said nothing, but I think that's just a case of if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all.

Exactly. I wouldn't have commented if I thought he looked a fool. Whenever someone posts something and they look a right dick I just stay quiet. LOL.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I've learnt a lot from posting pics on forums and being taken to task. I'd prefer for someone to tell me what they thought I was doing wrong than say nothing. That is of course as long as that person knows what they're talking about. Still I'm guilty of not saying anything when someone who posts a pic is obviously clueless. Id say there are very few people who just get it right all the time, style has to be worked at.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Yeah. The good thing about this place is very few noobs turn up who are starting from scratch. "6" is obviously a guy who knows what he's doing and doesn't need taking to task but I'd hope he'd appreciate someone pointing out what they thought was off mark for the thread.

We need a Billax over here who can step in every now and again, basically tell people what they are doing wrong in a very polite way and come out of it with the people getting his point with no misunderstandings or hard feelings. I've never seen anyone else do that on a forum like he does. Even on a board as laid back as this.

Yup, that's it.

Thanks Liam! TBF, I found the image from the internet and I just coloured it.

Well you've nearly got the colouring inside the lines bit sussed.

I actually really liked the Cousteau pic, Ville. I'm a fan of his look and I think you did it justice.

Plus I wear a long sleeve thermal most days just now with shirt sleeves rolled too. It's a good practical style.

DISCLAIMER
Woolster did not look like a dick in the Cousteau hat, the dick looks like Cousteau in the Woolster hat.

Haha!

Well, thanks. I wear the red beanie every once in awhile, but I've never worn it with the chambray before. Just threw it on in the last minute, so it was all a bit of fun really in the first place.

Although must say it is pretty hard not to look like a dick in a cousteau hat these days.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I see no one posted on my last pic either!!  Well then, the tweed may have slight padding, but at least it's not darted and is 3 button.  Plus my woolies are flat front.  And while you see more cuff on one arm, I SWEAR my jacket sleeves are the same length!!  Please approve so I can move on.

"6", I'd at least look twice if I saw you passing by.  Your style's your own.

I posted the Cousteau pic 'cos he's a bit of icon and thought Woolster was referencing it with hat.
You deffo didn't look a dick mate !
Whereas today I looked like I was going duck hunting (the full on Elmer Fudd), not my coolest look but totally toasty.
