White sox, now myself I'd never wear them unless I was playing some sort of sport. Maybe they'd go un-noticed if your everyday Joe had a pair on with Nikes and jeans. But with any other get up really in this day and age they're only good for comic value, Blues Brothers style. No one is ever taken serious if they wear white socks like that. Clearly its different Stateside but in Blighty or Norway-no chance. Its such a no-no infact in those Countries most people with any interest in clothes at all would wonder if the wearer was a little simple. Which I'm sure Ox isn't.
Is the rug some sort of Pagan birth mat?
OCBD - how will one be dressing for Dinner later on tonight?!?
Is that 2 changes for "Today"?
But seriously Chief - I salute ya!
The socks are cream/off-white Wigwam socks.
Thee Captain - The first pic if from yesterday and the latter from today. Thanks!
You were a complete bell-end in 1979/80 and beyond if you didn't wear white socks....M&S /C&A sock section never had it so good?!?
I think seeing someone in a white pair of socks is nothing in London, I'd forgotten how many proper odd balls there are walking about during my Easter visit. For sure if you wear white socks in a Mod club these days people will take the piss. Even down the wacker here in Oslo with mates that don't really have an interest in clothes white socks are a no-no. I guess they're like those belts with foxes on or chickens, or both. One side of the pond its deemed ok by most, the other you look a bit of a Dick. Of course if you like em Tom, you go for it bro, not for me, white socks are a bit too Rodney Trotter these days for me.
I'm getting sentimental now..not helped by a few lunchtime sherberts....the white hosiery revolution starts here!!!...well in a bit...need a Jimmy Riddle first...
I seem to remember wearing good quality thick white socks with loafers back in the late 60's (in London) but I preferred the red sox that the Squire shop sold for heavier shoes like Brogues,Gibsons,Royals. When every herbert started to wear the cheaper versions they became devalued and ridiculed. A bit like the Harrington jackets. Cool at first then to be avoided later. OCBD always carries off the look well and you would easily pick him out, in London, as the all-American boy. Smart fella.
We had a blast, I was flagging a bit Sunday mind. Had to call it a night around 3. I think it was the Morgans Saturday that did it.
Off white WigWams are essential!
