My 3 button has some weird roll where, on one lapel, it rolls to the 2nd button, the other lapel rolls to half way between the 2nd and 3rd button. Therefore, if I were to leave it as is, the lapels are completely lopsided and uneven. It looks ok if I button the top button, but if I try to only button the middle button, it looks really bad. I think it must have been folded in a drawer for years and the lapels just don't match up. Trust me, the end result will definitely not have any 1970s vibe. It looks like Oliver's was probably buttoned to the 3rd button for years and just doesn't want to roll to 2. We're just trying to iron out (pun most definitely intended) the quirks of vintage kit.
And Tomiskinky, somehow missed your pics. But, looking quite smart. Like the old Cricketeer. Have one myself that I quite like.

Why would you buy a jacket with odd lapels in the first place? Or a three button jacket and try and put a 3/2 in it anyway?

It's vintage, it was dirt cheap, and it fits perfect otherwise. I like the jacket. The lapels will be fine with a little treatment. I mean, I'd obviously never shell out money for a new expensive jacket with wonky lapels, but for $7 USD, I figure it's worth taking a shot on fixing the lapel roll on an otherwise perfect jacket.
I can only speak for myself, but I dig the jacket as a three-button and was only trying it out to see how it'd roll. I have a steamer in my closet and could just as easily set it back so it's no big deal. A button can easily be popped off and sewn back on the opposite side if it had worked out, so that's kind of a silly point. It's a great jacket as is, but would have been perfect rolled to the 2nd button. It's a low enough stance so I've decided to steam it back into place and keep it as is though.
WM what belt do you have on btw, is it vintage? I'm after a thin brown leather belt myself.
If the roll to 2 doesn't happen with mine, I'll probably just do the 3rd button and wear it like that. It looks like it rolled to 2 at some point, or something. I really can't tell.
It's an Izod belt purchased new 2 or 3 years back. In black, but I'm sure there's brown too.
Just to chip in on this one.
My jacket has just through this transition....... WITHOUT my knowledge!
Today I have fallen victim to a clueless Spanish drycleaner who has pressed out my lovely 3/2 roll on my HB tweed jacket.
Surely someone who prides themselves on being a 'professional' must've come across a 3/2 jacket in the past?
You win some, you lose some?........ I can't stop losing!
I experience the same problem with the dry cleaners here in the Netherlands, the secret is to clean the jackets by steaming in the bathroom with all windows and doors closed and the shower on its highest heat.
Of course, when you do this a lot, you start to get mold and fungus on the ceilings.
Looks better done up to the 3rd in my opinion, Japanese style!
Shirt looks well mate, I've got to take mine to the tailor to be made into a short sleeved job for the summer. Finishes about 4 inches above my wrist. Wicked cloth.
That's too bad, fits like a glove for me!
The cloth is fantastic indeed; as soft as a well worn and washed fifty year old Makers with a collar to match!
Yeah, its closer to three.

Are you trolling again?
On Henry they mostly look like that, too... But I can see what Sammy means - sometimes a BD collar that's too tight gives a similar impression. I must admit that I am myself not extremely picky about that, I would wear it with a tie, too - but I also like that classic BB collar roll with a tie better. I think Henry's shirts look best without a tie anyway. Or probably with a tie, but with the top button undone, in a "Moose" kinda way. But that's just personal preference. Unfortunately I am outta money at the moment... Hm. The day will come...

Very casual today...
Lands' End Super T (with breast pocket) light grey
Lands' End Durable Goods Sweatshirt (shortened by the alterations tailor as sleeves and overall length were really long, rest fits very nicely) light grey, too
Lands End woven belt burnt orange
Lands' End navy chinos (traditional fit, slightly tapered), no break
Sebago Fairhaven boots brown suede with Timberland / Red Wing-esque laces (yellow/red)
Lyle & Scott "Vintage" unlined Hooded Parka Surf Blue (preppy fashion stuff but it was cheap and looks better than I thought on me so I gave it a try)

^^Good stuff Captain. I like a nice Tootal, but I can't really pull it off. With an overcoat, maybe, but with a sports jacket no. It must be the beard, or lack thereof...
Oli's tie needs to be loosened a bit. The roll certainly looks good on 12Bar's photo.
