Re: Ivy League style for today

ahhh... Patrick.... good to see you again.  I like the boots.  I may need to start searching for a suitable replacement for my doodoo dessies.  I've got an unworn pair of clark's desert boots in the box, and I love them, but I do have the hankering to change it up.  They've been my go-to boot for a long time.

Oh, and did you ever see the elusive Wal-Mart Harris Tweed?

Re: Ivy League style for today

I'm in the same boat.  My sand Clarks died last month and my Cola pair are on their last legs. I do have a replacement pair but I'm a wee bit bored of Clarks.

I've been here before though.  Before I bought my last pair I was tempted by those Italian made ones (can't remember the brand name) but chickened out and bought me old faithful Clarks.

This time around I'm thinking about Sanders as a change up. Keep them for the weekend and wear my replacement Clarks during the week kind of thing. We'll see what happens.

As much as I like the AE I wouldn't consider them as a DB alternative.  It's all about the crepe for me. I think I'd wear them though. They are a beautiful boot apart from the laces.

Yeah, even with the new pair in the garage, it's hard for me to retire the one's I've been wearing forever.  Had to replace the laces numerous times.  The crepes look like the surface of the moon.  Talk about patina, man they got it.

I have to say I'm really happy with my Clarkes/Jaguar collective cord dessies. A bit different and smashing for dossing about in. Not in the same league as Patrick's boots though. They look real nice.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I never got much use out of my sand dessies.  They would match plenty of things, but I just never really liked the way they looked for some reason.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Sand is most versatile choice in my experience. I'd stop short of wearing with flannels but everything else that is casual is fair game.

Thanks for reminding me.  I liked the Astorflex but I think it was the sizing which put me off.

I've had a look at the  "Quality of Crepes" thread today. I'm tempted to have a look for the George Cox style Playboy having seen and read what Jesmond had to say about them.  Squarer toe than the slimmer Playboy and more rugged looking.  Sounds more me. I'm not sure I'm refined enough for the super stylish Sanders.

GW- On any other shoe or boot cord I think would not work well but the idea of a cord desert boot really interests me. What colour are yours?
