That is one cool look... Love the Wranglers. Grow ya hair a bit. On the sides. Only a bit, to complete that mid 60s look... wink

Re: Ivy League style for today

Oh.  So an update on the Wranglers.  They've been through 4 washes now.  That's one hot wash before wearing, and then I've done 3 cold washes since.  All air drying.  I tried on the size 28 which were total nut huggers.  The 29 fit good off the shelf, but I was wary of shrinkage.  So, I went with the 30.  For the first few wears, they were pretty loose at the waistband.  However, they are now fitting perfectly when dry after the wash, but they stretch after a few days of wear.  I've been wearing them to work and doing lots of bending and climbing in them.  So, I'd say after day two, they are almost too loose at the waist.  So, I think my next pair I'll try the 29 to account for the stretching.  In the leg it seems they probably lost about 1/2" after the washing.  They are holding their color nicely and while still pretty stiff, they are more comfortable and a little softer than when new.

WM your Wranglers look good, I have a pair myself and love their tough construction and the fact they are unlike any of my other jeans.

But I can't get down with the "blueberry" colour or the fact that the rise is so high it hurts when I sit. Could be my gut which is the problem.

I feel like a Cowboy when I wear them (in the garden) though.

Like that relaxed look on you WM, though I always wear my denims for a good 6 - 12 months from dry before I wash, pop them in the freezer every few month to kill the bacteria.
Have a pair of 55 cut 501s that were shrunk in the bath last may and have been worn regularly and still not washed, will be doing that at end of september.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Cap and Ox, great.

The wranglers are the 13mwz cowboy cut.  Tom, I've never considered your break in technique, but I'm sure it could make for some good looking jeans.  I typically don't wash my jeans as much as these, but I was eager to see how they were going to hold up.  While they are noticeably softer in texture after multiple washes, they are still very thick and rigid.  They don't soften up like modern Levi's, at least not yet.

DAO, I do recall from when I wore these years ago they take on a rather "blueberry" tint after a while.  These are still almost just as dark as when new, but I'm sure I'll post wearing them again in the warmer months, probably paired with some flannel and Red Wings.
