Re: Ivy League style for today

A pal proxied me a pair AC. It was a bit of hassle but well worth it as my old Clarks are starting to split mid sole.

The Playboys/Earls are really good Harpo. Usual Clarks construction, so solid enough in general but crappy laces (which I replaced). The chunkier sole unit is the best thing about them. Better in the wet, warmer a wee bit more height in the heel (good for me). A sleeker shape to them too than normal Desert Boots. Added bonus the missus likes them and she generally hates Clarks of all shapes and sizes.

Earlobes are like buttholes... once you stretch those things out there's just no going back.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Nice Playboys man! I finally scratched them off my wishlist a couple of weeks ago and got myself a pair in snuff suede after years of lusting over them. The rear collar/notch/heel tab (whatever the hell it's called!) has been diggin into the back of my ankle and tearing it to shreds though! Anyone else have the same issue? I hope they just need to be broken in... I won't dare slip 'em on without blister bandaids after a bad experience last weekend.

And Redwings are puke ugly! I've got a pair of Quoddy sheepskin lined grizzly boots which I bought for winters in the city (before I headed west!) but they aren't 100% waterproof or practical for deep snow. I'm gonna be up in the Rockies over the Xmas holidays and am thinking about picking up a pair of Sorels. I may just order my wife a pair and see how she likes 'em while I tough it out with some thick ass wool Wigwams.

What's the name of that trendyish UK webshop? Ha, I forget but I finally ordered from them after sizing up at CitiShoes on Park ave. this past summer.

Thanks for the soap trick, I'll try that out!
