Thanks for the info, Acton and Max - they look indeed very nice for knocking around...
A bit wet and windy today in London so...
Loake Sovereign in black (that's the same as the 'Royal' but with a rubber sole),
Corgi wool socks, charcoal,
Uni-qlo selvedge jeans (4 years old now and faded with nicely developed 'whiskers' and 'honeycombs' for denim-heads),
Lands End long sleeve madras shirt (now £12.95 in the outlet section on the LE UK website if you're looking for a bargain),
Keydge 'slack' in olive cotton,
M+S shower proof flat cap.
K-Way 'pac-a-mac' in Navy to hand in case it rains again.
The Camel is a cracker - one of my favourites and my main local along with the Approach Tavern. They have been doing the pies for at least 5 years and they are great, they were introduced by the previous tenant - the owners and current runners kept the pies on.
Most of the olde time boozers are gone, but tbh they needed to be cleaned up - who want's to drink fosters and strongbow these days, long gone are the days when having Peroni on tap was a sign of excellence in a pub. Tower Hamlets and Hackney have a large ethnic population who don't drink and a large artistic group who do and who would like to drink a decent beer.
Not a fan of the Pride myself, it has a certain charm but is usually too busy for comfort and the beers election is poor compared to many others in the area, next time you're in the area try The Palm Tree - Cash only, proper old school and has a jazz band on weekends.
The George is ok - never seen it packed, but it might be these days. The Well and Bucket is chaotic - not sure if The Sun is re-opening, that used to be decent.
Driving back with a slight hangover wasn't good. And timing our Atlanta arrival in the peak of afternoon rush hour was an inexcusable mistake on my part. Not sure what I was thinking there. Coasted into the driveway on fumes because I couldn't bear to exit the freeway on a clogged ramp to get gas. But the rest of the trip was just what the doctor ordered. Looking good yourself pal.
They sure do look the business. Hehe. Lovely looking shoes.
In Atlanta myself yesterday and today. Had to visit a site near Chattanooga and the drive back to the airport inevitably coincided with rush hour.
We chewed some of the same dirt and are now brothers.
I know a girl from Kalamazoo - who works as a hotel manageress in Southern England. She hates Glen Miller songs for some reason.......
