Re: Ivy League style for today

Thank you, Gentlemen! I am grateful for your comments. While I dress in the Ivy League Look, as I have for 56 years, my idiosyncrasy now runs to the flamboyant, as it did when I was eighteen. Then, it hid a lack of developed taste. Today, it seeks to hide wrinkled skin, hair loss, less toned abs - and many other shortcomings. A moment is coming (soon I fear) when apparel cannot overcome decay. Then, I will thank you all one last time, and retire from the scene.

Bill

Re: Ivy League style for today

billax - lovely presentation. a question.

Do you still buy yourself clothes etc or have you reached a point where you can get whatever you need from your wardrobe?

And thanks - I was wondering where I could get white OTC socks - I used to be able to buy wonderful cheap and cheerful OTC white cotton walking socks just around the corner from me - now I cant get them anywhere. I wear white socks nearly always when I wear jeans and desert boots or chukkas. I never wear shoes with jeans.

Re: Ivy League style for today

billax thanks for that answer. Sounds like that like me you aren't hard on clothes. I don't think I've ever really worn a piece of clothing - or even shoes out. Yet other people I know are really hard on clothes and tear them, get them stained, lose buttons, rub holes in thighs, get big nicks in shoes, wear stuff out..

Re: Ivy League style for today

Dressing well must be hard because the only people I see ever getting it right are in their later years.

^Oh, I don't know now, I see a general decline in the dressing of older gents, compared to my grandfather's generation which was born during and immediately after WWI.
