My posts are always the last one on the previous page
Damn, why do my Wranglers still look like Smurf pants when yours are so cool looking??
That's a great shirt btw; was it originally a half-sleeve or did you have it altered?
He just misuses them for hard work
PS - You know you have too many clothes when... I'd planned to wear an outfit for my mid century dining club tonight, and received an email from an Etsy seller late last night telling me that the tie she mailed me 3 months ago just got returned! Not only did I not realize I'd never gotten it, but it was the same damn tie I was planning to wear tonight! Haha.
Very cool outfit, Oliver. Would wear that, instantly...
Thanks guys; the jacket needs a few minor alterations but otherwise I liked it a lot too. All '50s vintage except the strides. I'm really digging the versatility of these reversible waistcoats. The flip side is a solid honey color that pairs great with navy blazers and brown tweeds. I've been having a lot of fun dressing up outfits with it, I want to try and dig up a couple more!
There's a Leave It To Beaver episode where Eddie Haskell gets in trouble for spending some money on a nice reversible vest. He purchases it at the Mayfield Varsity Shop and thinks he's going to be the top of the heap. He wears it under what appears to be a navy blazer in a few episodes.
Nice. I want to find a darker one - like a charcoal or maroon, along with university stripes to wear with lighter sport coats. Maroon with navy university stripes & vice versa on the reverse would be killer; I'd show Eddie Haskell who's top of the heap!
A nice '50s paisley pattern would be okay by me too!
Well, good luck. I don't see many of these, not that I look much. I'll report any worthwhile leads.
Thanks, I think they're pretty rare... Zach's had a few over the years but they always seem to be too small. This was the first I'd come across in my size. I guess they were kind of a "specialty article" even back in their heyday, so there's not an abundance of old stock floating around like with other vintage menswear. They're definitely fun to play around with though. I like how they add coherence to outfits that otherwise might pair awkwardly as separates.
