Oh there are differences between trad and Ivy, in fact major differences to my eye.
When i look at Mercer i don't really see a lot of either to be honest.
I see a guy smartening himself up and good luck to him but not a lot of traditional Natural shoulder going on.
For me its about that natural shoulder, the sack cut usually with a 3/2 roll
Two on the cuff and a single vent,
The roll of the collar on a button down
The no break slightly tapered, high rise pants .The classic and traditional chunky footwear.
The O'Connell's must be the shetland of all shetlands. Got a haircut too?
That's my own cut right there. It's a mature 8-4-2. One stocking stuffer I received for Christmas was a no. 10 clipper guard, so I'm going to experiment with giving myself a longer cut, perhaps today.
And the OC Shetland is real nice. I will say, it sheds like a scalded dog right out of the bag, but after a thorough hand wash in the sink it is fine.
Another note of interest is that these are the flannels I initially had tapered. I found that the leg opening was just too narrow to wear with substantial shoes like longwings and bluchers, so I had my capable seamstress actually reverse the taper a bit so they're now less voluminous as they were originally, yet they're not nearly as narrow as they were prior.
Also there is a lot to be said for tight jumpers and baggier pants reminds me of Bertie's casual country outfits in Jeeves and Wooster
Is Bop trying to imply that WM has some "junk in the trunk!" ?
Largely unrelated to anyone's trunk, first snow up here.
Bean boots
beat up jeans
brushed OCBD from O'Connell's (try them, they're a treat!)
grey crewneck sweater from William Lockie
waxed cotton coat
Blackwatch scarf
Very nice. Beautiful snow and the clothes are good too.
