Re: Ivy League style for today

I desperately NEED new five pockets!! I miss my old LVC bed fords with the 11.75" rise. They trimmed down the measurements since and that's my cutoff point. Chinos just don't work with tropical sport shirts; at least not this cut. I need something more tapered... Where can I turn amigos? Who does decent five pockets with natural waist (MIN. 11.5"!!!) and tapered in the 7.75 - 8" hem region; preferably an off white (think Sperry birch) or similar to the ol' LVC's??

Re: Ivy League style for today

http://yellowrat.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Pants Acton Rates these and tbh if they had a UK Retailer I'd buy them even if that price was in $

http://www.johnsimons.co.uk/john-simons-apparel-company-5-pocket-trousers-natural/ I have never tried these, but I've been told by Acton they are sorta like older 501s, so might require a bit of tapering. As with most things little to know details, but I think they do come shorter?

I have the LL Bean Hertling, which are about as high waisted as I own, but I have them tapered in to 7.5. They get the WorriedHitMan seal of approval, so I guess blood stains come out of the natural colour ones? Only complaint is I'd prefer a less contrasting stitching?

There have been some great looks in here recently, I haven't bothered to contribute since my own recent attempts ended in a good picture, so good I didn't realise till I tried to upload them to photobucket and realised my Cardigan was turned in on one side... Will try to make the effort at some point in the future since it was all stuff I've not posted.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Thanks man... paging Acton to this thread. Do the Yellow Rats shrink up in the wash? The 10-3/4" rise on sz 32 is barely on the border for me. If they're anything like my old Press chinos that lose a 1/4" in the laundry, they won't cut it. Otherwise I think they look great. I'd like to hear more about the fabric; some close-up pics of the cotton would be really helpful too.

As for Hertling, the contrast stitch is a deal breaker for me too. Just going by memory of WM's pics which look great on him but the colour and stitch is a bit too western wear for me, ag least from what I remember. So far Yellow Rats a contender but I really wish the rise came up higher to 11.5". I guess they're the same cut as the old 1st gen. LVC, though I dug the weave on those a bit more.

Re: Ivy League style for today

I'd recommend the Bean / Hertlings as well.

Oh, never mind.  If ya don't like 'em I'll not recommend 'em.  They're the only ones I've got.

I think those look just fine with the shirt.  Great shirt!

Re: Ivy League style for today

Also could someone please tell me what the hell Bedford corduroy is? Are they just ripping off LVCs or were these an actual cotton cord fabric in the early 60's? The old LVCs weren't a cord cloth at all, just a woven cotton. What are these Yellow Rats??
