Hate Alec Baldwin but love this scene.

"McQueen's message was signaled through subtraction... in a tweed or herringbone jacket and a ribbed swearer he had an electric austerity".

Are we supposed to worship the over-rated jack Lemmon on the basis of the above links? This forum's faux hero-worship is resembling Sleaze Forum more every day.

Contrary to lies of FNB and Woofboxer, I (and most of the other "Buff Bastards") have been banned from posting on this forum. There are only a few posters left so don't waste your time on here. This forum is dead and nobody cares.

Re: Ivy Icon: Jack Lemmon

I have this image in my head I can't shift, of The Bishop of Briggs sitting in a Wee Willie Winkie cap and nightgown, perhaps warming his pinched hands by a flickering candle.  The food - possibly - the drink, are meagre; the Jack Lemmon Collection on DVD is absent from the dusty shelves; 'Hollywood And The Ivy Look' has been torn into pieces and scattered.  A troll disguised as a sock puppet is leering horribly through the cracked window.  The Bishop raises an arm, then a crucifix - to no avail.  The troll is in the room and advancing...

He wakes up.  It was all a dream.  His faithful servant Yuca is bringing in breakfast on a tray.  Ahh!  Kedgeree and kippers!

Mamet is a fair old scribe, but let's hope he has recovered from his paranoia about the Republican Party.  I had a letter from him in 1985 in which he alleged artists of his merit were to be driven across the border into Canada, at the behest of the Reagan administration.

You've already done it.  But no matter.  Tell me a little about the 'political beliefs' of dear Harold, Yuca, and then we'll talk some more.

In a Manhattan/1960s/Jewish/movie mood.  Just thinking about the great Alan Arkin...  Neil Simon...  Nichols and May...  Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder...  And, of course, the incomparable Jack Lemmon, once photographed in a yellow Lacoste shirt.  We'll never see his like again.

Mamet: moved from the infantile Left to the thumb-sucking Right as a Born Again Trump supporter.

The Bishop Of Briggs was possibly active on the wrong forum.  More of a frowning, sourpuss DW type of cove.

Oh, and SMF was spot on in his dislike of the wearisome, talent-free Alec Baldwin...
