Nice Maincoat Colin! I love those things! Such great coats. One problem is they are prone to getting dirty and then the material just doesn't want to relinquish the stain. So be careful with it and be mindful of where you sit!

SCORE!!!
Sancho is turning into quite the bagged NOS ocbd nabber!
Yes, quite the OCD hobnobbing knob gobbler.
Interesting one Sancho ,i will be interested in hearing how it turns out.
WM & Stan does i am wondering if Gobbler has the same meaning in the US ?
Here in the UK a you can gobble all your food up
but it does have a sexual meaning too.
Yes, especially when you're gobbling knobs.
Hahaha
Haha! I have to take the leftovers since y'all is taking all the BB and J Press deadstocks!

What's "too long", Colin? Is it a long, regular, or short length? Where does it hit your leg? A slight alteration would probably be unnoticeable, and they made them in various lengths anyway. I swear by the Maincoats. Good for you.
Any decent alterations tailor should be able do it Colin, my bloke has done a couple of my wife's coats. However I would wear it a few times before you do anything rash, once it's been shortened there's no going back!
WM; W,
Thanks. It's a 38 long (had to get long for the sleeve length). Would prefer if it was about 3-4" shorter. Shall wash and wear it before alterations though, wise words. Hits below the knee, WM.
How far below the knee?
Not much, bottom of the knee.
EDIT: Thanks WM

A below the knee raincoat or overcoat makes more of a statement in my opinion as well as doing it's job of keeping you warm and dry. I bought a Grenfell from JS years ago that came down nearly to the bottom of my calf, I felt a bit self conscious wearing it so after a while I had about three inches nipped off by a tailor. It still comes halfway down my calf, but I'm happy with it. I've got a couple of other macs that are slightly shorter, overall I think about 2-3 inches below the knee is the ideal length.
