I like it, 1966. A fresh, clean-cut look...
You can just see it with White Levis & Weejuns can't you?
8/4/2 crop & a bottle of beer...
^ YES! I was thinking white Levis, too...
Sharp, reminds me of this:

This combo turned up in the post from the States this morning. Really nice quality dress shirt in a soft cotton twill. The very slight ribbing to the weave is almost a subtle cord. Breast pocket, French cuffs and club collar. Fits like a glove.

...a nice, narrow silk rep tie. Great colours IMHO.

Staceyboy, I like the shirt and tie.
With regard to your recent E-bay story, I lost out on a tan G9 on E-Bay a couple years ago in the last bitter moments of the auction. I was rather pissed because like the Weejun, I tend to get rather silly with these online auctions. Anyway, I looked up what other stuff this guy was buying—vintage car parts and vintage Marantz stereo equipment. I came to the conclusion that he was a cooler guy than myself so I didn’t begrudge my competitor’s good luck.

You got the shirt from ebay and the tie from americanvintageclassics.net? You beat me to the punch.
Almost BoO. Well spotted. Both the tie and the shirt came from americanvintageclassics.net. Always prompt service from the guys running that site. I'm dithering over a few other items of their's (and the sister site) at the moment.

Both good sites. All their suits seem to be either tiny, huge, or not my cup of tea.
Glad you finally got a Pilgrim shirt '66!
Not an Ebay find this time but a pair of Churchill dirty bucks donated by Pops Weejun. He bought them in New York in the 80s but couldn't get on with them, thought they looked a bit too short fronted for today. However when I got them home I realised why - he'd laced them English style - straight across loop over loop and they did look like children's shoes.
A quick relace of the original soft rope style laces and they suddenly look dead right.

great looking bucks!
That trick with the laces is one to remember.
Can we say that that is proper Ivy lacing?
I'm tempted to offer that opinion based on my experience...
^ I couldn't tell you but it does look best. I use both this "over/under" style and the old "under/over" (which I prefer), but never straight across "bar lacing".

I prefer the old "leg/over" myself.

But never this:

I always felt that was more of a casual look - suppose the habits one learns as a child die hard.

I worked in a shoe shop for a while and thats the way we used to display shoes!
I particularly like it on a formal shoe such as an Oxford, where I think the crossover style would take away from the style and formality of the shoe.
I'm not against crossover per se, I think it can look good on shoes, particularly where there may be only 4 or 6 eyelets (that is 2 rows of 2 or 3 rows of 2). Once you start getting into more eyelets I think it can start to look messy! Course all this is subjective.
I'm with you on this one, Prof. Straight accross for me.
Staceyboy
Can we say that straight is UK & the other is US?
Just interested.
- it don't matter!

Could this be the ultimate forum post?
We all know what's being said. There is no need for more. It's perfect.
