Yep, they're indeed horizontal cords. I like them a lot although I do plan on giving them a bit of a taper as they really are a proper straight cut. Apparently all of O'Connell's house cords are made by Hertling and I assume they're all the Gene model. They've got quite a nice selection. I plan on picking up a couple more in traditional 8-wale and possibly a pair of moleskins or two.

Only downside is it's 100% acrylic and a bit overpriced considering. c.1970's apparently.
