^ if you play football/Girls Ball games on an artificial pitch the Norman V-Ripple in leather comes highly recommended.

Not a football person tbh, never worn them - they were part payment for the job. If had the leather ones I would probably wear them, I might find they work with something and sport them, but for now they are just a nicely made pair of shoes made in England.

Cool shoes Tom! Fell runners have to be some of the fittest athletes about, along with boxers. I work with one - she does marathons, but over mountains. Interestingly the US ripple sole isn't for grip but for comfort. It was originally an experimental sole for paratroop boots - to absorb impact. It wasn't picked up by the military, but the designer saw a commercial opportunity for an impact absorbing sole.

I am a football kind of guy - only its Rugby Football. Association - meh!

Yeah, remember reading that on the ripple sole thread - very interesting - wish I had kept my old Dessies now and done a Bop with a ripple sole?

I'm more of a cycling guy - though in my school years I did wear Walsh for Cross Country running, being from the Yorkshire Dales it was a permanent fixture in the P.E. schedule. I was quite a good runner, but these days suffer with acute tendonitis which limits my miles.

Charcoal / grey twill / chinos are actually an item missing from my repertoire.  The hunt begins.
