Ones to wear with the old Needlecord jeans & 3 btn. collar, flap-pocket BD I think:

Best foot forward, Lads!

Nice shoe. There does seem to be a bit of mania for brothel creepers on the board these days. Early case of Fall Fever?
Very similar to the Grensons, although they seem more boot like:

I am not a fan of desert boots of any kind really. I class them as shoes for people who don't like shoes.
Just a completely personal perspective.
Be lucky!
gadzooks! good website mister, thanking you very much. those mephisto peppo's look very close to paraboots so i will have to invest.
it was a sad day when the paraboot shop in savile row closed it's doors for the last time.
What's not to like?
A good compromise between slouchy Clarks and classic chukkas. Like the sole too.
the loakes i find a little to dressy and the grensons are too boot like
thats why i always go for the clarks
If I had to choose a desert boot I see no reason why it shouldn't be the classic Clarks model. I understand the latest production run attempts to accurately recapture the construction and styling of the company's cherished past.
The idea of luxury desert boots strikes me as an oxymoron. Styling on expensive models from other manufacturers never looks as good to my eye.
As I stated above I'm not a fan personally. Not that they can't look good as shoes, but rather that I don't really own much in the way of clothing that can team effectively with a desert boot. Just about the only thing I would consider wearing with them trouser-wise is the five-pocket corduroy, which I currently no longer own. I consider that five pocket cords should a) not have rivets and b) should be relatively inexpensive. I haven't seen a pair like that for some time other than exorbitantly priced LVC jobs. Any recommendations for such a trouser would be gratefully received. Then I would buy a Clarks DB in the sand colour.
It's just occurred to me that the other item of clothing which goes well with the desert boot is a pair of ultra-short khaki shorts as worn by Sir Johnny Mills, Harry Andrews etc. in Ice Cold In Alex. No recommendations required for a pair of these, thanks.
But is it a luxury Desert Boot or a downbeat Chukka? Depends on how you look at it.

... And they do call it a Dessie too...
I quite like those 'in the middle' items sometimes. A bit quirky.

If they ever bring back the Polyveldt, I'll be first in the queue.
Like the Weejun, the Clarks desert boot does cover a lot of bases, though - anything from summer wear with shorts up to smart with a blazer or even a cotton suit.
They were great, fantastic soles and very light. They did also make a far sleeker boot version, but I can't find a pic.
