Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

For those on a very tight budget: H&M are doing plain grey and blue classic looking sweatshirts for 9.95€ at the moment. Not great quality and made in a third wolrd country, but they got that infamous X-stitching at the collar...

Sooner or later - later most likely - I may decide to part with two hundred dollars for that Made In The USA 100 per cent cotton example I once saw on FleaBay.  Yes, it had the stitching.  On the other hand...
The FOTL example I bought was disappointing.

A nice vintage one currently on Ebay with a starting price of $99.  Duxbak?

Oh, how you all love each other... Love and Peace crap!!!

can't we have a silly argument about something...???

Where's my old "suede fronted cardigan" thread? Where's that old Town mag ad for a Stanley Blacker blazer?

And where's a wanker who knows cheaper sources for Weejuns than JS?

OK, there was this little fight between Toffeeman and Rip, Rig & Panic, but I missed it, and I got the feeling it was more or less a staged fight...

back on topic: I like LL Bean, even though they're not a 100%... boring opinion, which certainly doesn't start a war...

^ Jivy colours there mate.

Being a fan, I bought a heather grey Uniqlo sweatshirt in Paris. I had never been in one of their shops. It was horrible, but the sweat is fantastic.

Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

I was suprised to find the current grey marl Uniqlo to be pretty sturdy. I was used to their flimsier all cotton ones of previous years but I guess it's because this grey one has some polyester in the mix. I don't mind at all. It's similar to the heather grey Hanes Ts, they used to have some poly as well while the other colours were all cotton.

Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

For some reason grey marl is nearly always poly/cotton mix, especially with thin fabrics for T-shirts for example. Apparently it's hard to get the flecked grey colour right with 100% cotton.

I'm a fan of the Uniqlo sweater as well. The neck opening is nice and wide for BDs underneath.

The current unadorned LL Bean model gets most of everything right.

Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

I didn't get a freebie with my last order, either. I just emailed the store and told them, and they told me they'd send one right away.

And they did.....

Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

Can't remember when anymore but I was talking to JS about short sleeved sweatshirts... He'd sold them back in the day, before my time I think, & they'd done very well for him.

I wouldn't mind a couple in Grey & maybe a Navy too to wear with a White T or just by themselves. A bit McQeenish.

Anybody know of any good sources?

Thanks -

Re: The Right Sweatshirt. By Matt.

Cheers for the call, John - I knew you'd know - By the time I'd got me stick & got up to cross the room I'd missed you - I'll be in touch tonight. Thanks for the link.

Bit of work for me now & then some blood test results this afternoon. Then I'll probably have a nap & be back on fighting form again.

Good to hear your voice anyway, Mate.  Take care -

Jim.
