Ivy 101 -

An Oxford Shirt,
A Shetland,
Perhaps a Harris Tweed.
Some Chinos
And some Loafers -
That's all you really need.

Best -

Re: Ivy 101 -

I think I'll sneak a tie under the Shetland crew tomorrow with a BD for that Prep Master look...  Good idea!

Thanks -

Re: Ivy 101 -

A Shetland,
and a button-down,
Some Cords, a well-worn Boat shoe -
And any money you have left you can reserve for coats too.

A cheery smile,
A winning way,
A wink for all the lassies -
Apart from those you only need some loafers made by Bass's.

Re: Ivy 101 -

The boat shoo has always been a dicey one for me.  Because the troo prep always wears it in town.  So it's got to be streamlined and simple like the topsider.  Some others have got too many bells and whistles and it ruins it.  LIke wearing a North Face parka or something.

Re: Ivy 101 -

... ... ... ...

Perchance a shirt which buttons down
And shoes which let one loaf around
Then add a coat with shoulders sloped
Where here canst thou find cause to mope?

(I have no idea if I'm getting better or worse... Vote now!)

The blue blazer, I think is also a necessity.

A pair of shoes, of horse's ass
And bright Argyles, to show your class
Chinos, embroider'd with Airedales
A kiddy's belt with spouting whales

oh sorry, wrong forum...

Re: Ivy 101 -

Oddly, I have never owned a blue blazer. I just wear the coat of one of my blue suits, usually with the pants from one of my gray suits.

Re: Ivy 101 -

Should your need for a blazer be acute
Wear the jacket of your navy suit

If your flannels should be kaputt
Wear the pants of your old grey suit

Patch & flap -
Patch & flap!
If thou hast that what can ye lack?

Oh bring me burly,
Hefty, crap,
For me to fashion into Sacks!

Solid the shoe,
Modrate the tie.
Ivy, Ivy! 'Till I die!

... sorry...

Re: Ivy 101 -

My 101 started out the opposite way.  I began with suits and ties, then I warmed to the OCBD, and after that it was the chino.  The chino took some work.
