Absolutely fantastic!

Along with 'Leaving Here' (another Holland,Dozier,Holland tune) It's one of my all time favourite songs. There are not many versions that I don't like (not too keen on Stevie Wonder's version) including these

The Band

Marvin Gaye

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

I also have this version. It was on his Greatest Hits LP in mono that pre-dates 'I heard it through the grapevine'.

Took me ages  - weeks and months - to decide whether to buy that or a Jimi Hendrix singles collection. Recorded music was seriously expensive in the sixties.  Marvin Gaye won because it was more in context with other records I owned.

Liked this track. Similar to 'Can I get a witness?'

Very similar indeed. When I first heard 'Can I Get a Witness?' I wondered if he was a rugby league fan. It was the only reason that I could think of for Marvyn wanting to go to Widnes. ;-/

It's important we gain our self-worth through the efforts of others. How else can you guarantee neurotic levels of self-denial at your own short comings. Than by masking them with the talents of others.

Although he didn't make hoho imo's list, Dennis is in my top 5 of all time.

Watching that video and looking at their trousers, and in particular, Mike Loves' ass, I'm thinking maybe there is such a thing as too high a rise.

Absolutely in my top 5 too. Even looking completely gormless he has a charm. Den was cool and made up for the rest of the band being square as hell.

Well Mike Douglas got his wish and Kaye Stevens definitely wanted a slice of Den.

Cheers.

Not the original vinyl version I know but I managed to get a digital download of it along with a couple of other tunes by them that are included on a Patti Drew compilation.
