The Downliners Sect - White Caterpiller.
Unlike their earlier R&B/British Beat Boom stuff this was recorded by the band when they took up residency on the continent just before their demise.

I was lucky enough to see these live when they reformed for Modstock. Man, I had tears in my eyes. To see them live when you've been a fan for 30 years and thought you had no chance...They were fantastic. Reggie still sang like that.
Couple of stills from that gig, one with Phil Collins in the background who got the ball rolling with getting them back together. Best thing he's ever done. He used to follow them every where back in the day.

Wow! I wish that I had seen them more recently than when I saw them for the only time @ 1998 somewhere in a boozer in north London.

Reg's solo album is pretty damn fine if you can find it.

Wow! I bet that was amazing. The album sounds like there was a cracking atmosphere...
Apparently, a young David Jones soon to become David Bowie was there too....
Did you ever frequent The Station Hotel in Richmond?

The Marquee Chris? I've a reissue of the LP and also a copy of the one where they played with Sonnyboy at the Crawdaddy- Did you catch the Yardbirds there as well? I'm a bit envious TBH. The LP is great. Gig must have been even better.
Simon, I used to see the Yardbirds when they had a friday-night residency at the Marquee in 1964. The Five Live Yardbirds LP was recorded at two of those gigs....I did go to the Crawdaddy a couple of times never saw the Yardbirds there, but I did them at the Fender Club at Kenton with Jeff Beck.....
Years later (1978?) when Charly got the rights to reissue the 5LY LP they didn't have access to the original artwork. I was working in 'Rock On' an oldies record shop in Camden at the time and the guy from Charly (Joop Visser?) came into the shop looking for an original LP to copy the artwork. We didn't have a copy in stock at the time so I lent him mine.

So who played when you went to the Crawdaddy? It wasn't the Stones was it?
Those Charly records were a god send to us. I think they must have reissued 100's of 60s R&B records.
Its been released on CD on Rhino with added live tracks BTW.

I've got that Charlie reissue. I never listen to the Yardbirds now, really - so if anyone is interested! Though I do thank them and their ilk for turning me on to the good stuff. Keith Relf was one of the blokes I'd play along to when I was geting my chops together on the harp - until I realised he wasn't actually particularly good and that I had to go back to the source:
