no time to type link earlier, here it is: askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95744

on the other hand, from what old-timers have told me, army boots being unimaginably uncomfortable and rock-hard would make for an "authentic experience". i can just picture the trad goofballs and weirdo japanese clothes fetishists getting their rocks off on "authentic style" infected blisters and swollen bunions. to be extra-authentic, lance them with a rusty straight razor soaked in cheap whiskey...

was poking around and this "what price glory" company (lost link) has some interesting stuff. those officers shoes are 95 bucks, made in mexico (the guy emailed me back within hours). didnt ask about the "mcqueen " boots, but those are listed at 99. british army sweaters and the like for way under a hundred bucks...

I must say that personally I wouldn't polish those & ruin that look. But that's just me.

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

Jesmond, did you get the boondockers sent from america? they are a good boot, bought myself a pair of service shoes from Douroux in france, they're good, made by corcoran as well, but do have the rounder toe, grudgingly prefer the toe on yours though.

how much did you pay all in all shipped to the UK, if you don't mind me asking?

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

Hi Chamboid,

I`ve just found all my old email correspondence with WW2 Impressions, from when i bought the USMC Boondockers (Feb, 2009).

My email corresondence was with a "Jonathan Arreola, CSS". Their customer webform requests details of  a US State to ship to; just leave that blank.

Then, you can use the "Special Notes" section to confirm your ship- to address, or just email the company to confirm your ship-to address.

I`m not sure, but i think you can pretty much request the shipping method you want. I requested the most economical means, and my credit card must have been billed accordingly. They were shipped on to me in Cyprus, in good time.

The boots are currently $150.00.

They are definitely a bit different, and i think they`re lovely boots...

Cheers!

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

Cheers Jesmond, and what size did you get and do they fit a size bigger like the site claims?

Just incase anyone is interested I 'Dubbed' the service shoe I bought, bit of a risk, but for an 'authentic' look worth it, the suede is now gone, but will i'm sure some day return after I have worn these trying to escape a pow camp a couple of times for all you Mqueen nuts out there.

the colour is a gorgeous deep  mottled russet with a darker toe. might put soMe pictures up if anyone cares.

think I'm gonna save up whilst they restock the Boondockers though and leave them as they are, how long have you been wearing them now Jesmond, are they still holding together?

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

Would anyone be in this forum be interested in buying a original WW2 Naval Clothing Factory peacoat, it's the 10 button kind with throat latch, pretty much in mint condition, just missing the tags, but has issue stamps in inside linning.

Size I would say is a good 38, or a slim 40.

think it would look very good with the boondockers, natural suede, the light tan colour/camel with dark blue wool coat, gark grey slim farah slacks, or slim maroon levis 511

anyone interested I'll post  pictures with the boots

anyone interested

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

^ Thank you for posting the pics, Chamboid...

They look great! I love the styling. They look better than i thought they would. As you say, they really look like great boots for knocking and kicking about in. Horse for Courses...

I find, looking at your pics, these boots to have a really "fresh" look to them. It`s like there is an integrity ; both in the manufacture and in the styling.

What are you going to do about the tongues, are you gonna put more dubbin on them aswell, or leave them as they are?

They look wonderfully `different`, and novel ...(That in istelf is no meant feat, today...) .

Certainly, when you compare them to old Timberlands, or Redwings, or whatever other `working boots`  the plaid shirt wearing fashionistas and fashion blogs are currently championing.(EDIT: I`ve, actually, got a pair of Redwings, and, notwithstanding, i do think they`re great boots...).

There is something `other`about their styling; and yet ,somehow, strangely, they are very reassuringly familiar (almost atavistic)  and classic in their styling.

I  do think they look cool. The dubbin element gives them a very `personal`charm , aswell, i think.

I bet you were fretting just a little bit when you first put the dubbin on , weren`t you!? ( I think i would be ...smile).

They are not a poseur boot by any stretch of the imagination; and yet, they have a lovely, simplistic charm. That`s what`s nice about them.

So many boots look over-stylised, and scream "look at me", and are a turn-off. These boots are ostensibly un-obtrusive but stand out from alot of others BECAUSE of their simple, easy, old-school, utiltarian lines. That, in itself, is really refreshing. I think they would be great for really easy, carefree, pared down styling.

Your peacoat on the other section looks great ,aswell, Chamboid... wink

Cheers.

Re: WW2Impressions USMC Boondockers

Thank you Jesmond, love what you said, nice to here it from someone, I think the integrity is the charm, and they're not Timberland, they tell you that, and say, but you can see where Timberland/Redwing/Catapiller 'borrowed' ideas from

because the tongue are not 'rough-out' the dubbing doesn't take in the same way, it would be polish to get the same colour, but i'm going to leave them, I like the tan shinning through, it matches the thick leather top sole nicely at them moment, adds a nice bit of surprise/unintentional detail after I'd dubbed the suede.

And yes I was bricking it, it really was a (excuse the pun) feet first jump into it.

Glad you like the peacoat let me know if you're interested, hope it goes to someone one here, someone who know's what it is, and appreciates it.
