I once saw on Flickr photos of a man's Weejuns which had been spooged on, both wet/fresh globs and some older dried stains!
It takes all kinds, in this world. Weird cerrtainly but harmless I think.

Oh it's Dear Old Pat of course!
(What do I win?)
Pat will decide!
Thought you might enjoy this:
Johnston & Murphy Ski-Moc, compared to a Salvadorian Weejun. Although at 1 lb, 1 oz. only a couple of ounces heavier than a Weejun, they feel more like longwings on the feet than loafers.

They both look great and both have their place in any collection. The J&M are chunky enough for winter wear aren't they?
Those who find loafers a bit too namby (66?) may wish to check out the Aristocrafts....
I can only imagine the face of Ms Maclennan when you stole the scales from the kitchen....;-)
I do this kind of thing when she's on the phone to her sister.
And bless her, she does pretend never to notice...

Moose - A perfect way to visually discuss loafers - Show them against the Weejun so everybody has a base line to work from. Inspired!

Thanks - it seemed to work quite well a while back with the Yuma/Weejun comparison.
As a newcomer to loafers myself (never used to like them!) I had trouble understanding the differences until I saw decent pics.
Does anyone have any recent experience of new Ski Mocs? Interested to hear opinions.
Deadstock pairs do come up regularly on US Ebay. I bought a pair last year for $39.00
The Aristocraft models are the ones to go for. I found they fit spot on too, ie US 10D was 9.5E which it should be.
I saw new ones in Sweden in December but they aren't quite as good - the sole leather looks flimsier and the upper more of a painted appearance. The older pairs had thick hide type leather that is not stiff just very thick - like a weejun on steroids!

Thanks for this. Pretty much what I expected, I had just hoped for an endorsement. It would be great to actually buy some new shoes from a shop, rather than the waiting, wishing, hoping of ebay.
London seems to have no decent new loafers any more. Maybe nowhere does.
I saw these RL loafers last weekend, the website only has them in brown which I find a bit boring, but the store had them in a great shade of red.
Not quite brick, but not a candy apple red either
http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/inde … age=family
They caused a stirring within. Says "made in USA", tho I dont know who made these for RL. Def wasnt Alden, Allen Edmonds or the usual suspects that RL would license out to

Very probably made by Highland Shoe Co who seem to have cornered this market for the likes of Alden, RL and co for USA made handsewns. They have a website which says they will soon sell their own models direct.
